I'm sure you've heard it many times, in the discussions that I have with people here. When they sit there and tell me I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior. And I asked them so you believe in the teachings of Jesus right? And they say of course I follow the teachings of Jesus. And my responses, no you don't.
Let us look at the teachings of Jesus, first of all Jesus is the word of God. And the word of God means all of scripture. So when it's written in the scripture it's the word of God. It wouldn't be put in the word of scripture if it wasn't important.
Scripture States, Luke chapter 1 verses 41 through 45 " now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child left in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy spirit. She gave her loud cry and said, of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honored with the visit from the mother of my lord? For the moment you're greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb left for joy. Yes blessed is she who believed that the promise made to her by the Lord would be fulfilled."
The gospel Luke chapter 1 48 and 49, " yes from this day forward all nations will call me blessed, for the almighty has done great things for me."
It is important to note that in both cases the Holy Spirit moves in both people. Who is the Holy Spirit, but God.
It is obvious that God feels it's important for everyone to know these things, yet you do not follow it.
The Gospel of Luke chapter 22: 19 and 20." He then took some bread and when he had given thanks, broke it and gave it to them saying, this is my body which will be given up for you, do this as a memorial of me. He did the same thing with the cup after supper and said, this cup is the New Covenant in my blood which will be poured out for you.
The gospel of Mark 14 verses 22 through 25 " and as they were eating Jesus took some bread and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it to them. Take it he said, this is my body, then he took the cup and when he had returned thanks he gave it to them, and all drank from it, and he said to them this is my blood, the blood of the Covenant which is to be poured out for many. I tell you solemnly, I shall not drink anymore wine until the day I drink the new wine in the Kingdom of God."
The gospel of Matthew chapter 26, versus 26 through 29 " now as they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and one he had said the blessing he broke it gave it to his disciples. Take it and eat he said this is my body, then he took the cup and when he had returned things he gave it to them, drink all of you from this, he said, for this is my blood the blood of the covenant, which is to be poured out for many for the Forgiveness of sins. From now on, I tell you I shall not drink wine until the day I drink the new wine with you in the Kingdom of my Father."
All the times that Jesus shows us in the scripture of the importance of the breaking of the bread the blessing and the claim of this is my body, this is my blood. Do we follow in the footsteps of what Jesus calls us to do? Do we bless the bread in our communities and break it claiming this this is the body of Christ, do we bless the wine and hand it out for others to drink claiming that this is the blood of Christ? You may not want to listen to what I have to say, but you will listen to what the scripture has to say. Because the scripture itself will condemn you. For those who claim to be Christian but do not follow the will of Jesus you condemn yourselves already.
