Of course Ukraine is not banning Christianity. Christianity Today has a news story that outlines what has been happening in the Orthodox churches in Ukraine.

Ukraine Passes Law to Ban Russia-Linked Orthodox Church

Threatened amid accusations of collaboration with an enemy state, implementation awaits more votes, presidential signature, and judicial review. UOC leader calls it “a struggle against God.”

While its not wrong to weed out russian spies and political enemies in the russian orthodox church in Ukraine, to ban the whole church is of course an attack on christianity, at least on this ancient branch of it.

It's political, not religious. The Orthodox Church in Ukraine sought independence from the Russian Orthodox church after the annexation of Crimea, which the Russian Patriarch vocally supported. He has also supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities believe that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is systemically Moscow controlled from the top down, so weeding out individuals would not be effective.

I don't know the situation in depth to comment much further. But, there's no attack on Christians. In Ukraine everybody is free to pray, worship and serve God as they choose. You have the freedom to proclaim "Jesus is Lord". The church is being expelled for its allegience to Moscow, not its allegience to Jesus Christ.
