Hello

I have a question about marriage between a now christain and a husband that is not?!

I was saved a couple years ago, my husband is not saved. The biggest trouble in our marriage is that he is addicted to pain pills, and will not work. Our son is sick, and he is doing well, but he truly loves his father so very much. I do not want to leave and take my son away from his father, and i do not want a divorce, so I really just do not know where to go. I trust in the Lord, that all things work for the good of the lord, so i know He is my rescue and strength. However, it is sooooo very hard to be in this relationship!

Any advice on what to do??
Much love and blessing.:embarasse

1 Corinthians 7:10-16 says (from NKJV)

10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11 But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife.
12 But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. 13 And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. 15 But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. 16 For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?

Nothing could have helped me more!
Those wonderful words of God are exactly what I needed to know.
I know it is hard, but God said there in those words, that I am doing what I felt was right all along.. I should stay, in the hopes he will come to know the Lord, and if he leaves, then i am free from it.
Thank you so very much for this, I needed it!

My father in-law got saved and his wife really did not like it. She used to curse, scream, throw stuff at him and worse. His response- love, kind words and patience and continuing to press into his relationship with Jesus. The end result was her getting saved on her deathbed. God is faithful and calls us to love others even when they are quite unlovely. That is after all what He did for us.
Many blessings in Jesus wonderful Name,
your brother Larry.
