I was just sitting here thinking of other things the acronym UFO could represent. My brother used to say it stands for Uninformed (rude word) Official, and I've thought of a few more.
Seriously though, if you follow the front page of your browser, tell me what some of your opinions on it are strictly as fine art. I classify alien pictures in both movies and "news" stories as cartoons, I don't see them as having any aesthetic value at all. Having said that, it's a popular counterculture, or subculture.
I'll start by saying that it isn't fine art, because it lacks proportional perspective. Proportional perspective is a three-part ratio, top to bottom, left to right, and front to back of the engineering cube, which expands from the drafter's foursquare for technical illustration. To me they're all flat two-dimensional cartoon like the ones we publish in the Sunday supplement.
