In July, VOM launched an online petition to help free Asia Bibi, a Christian wife and mother convicted of blasphemy and sentenced to death in Pakistan. Tens of thousands of people from around the world have signed the petition for her release at www.CallForMercy.com.
If you haven't yet spoken out for Asia Bibi, please GO NOW and sign the petition.
Asia Bibi is still in prison, and we have not yet reached our goal of 1 MILLION SIGNATURES calling for justice.
To help spread the word of Asia's unjust sentence, VOM also launched a video contest. We invited readers to post a video on YouTube telling the story of Asia Bibi and asking viewers to sign the petition, which we will soon be delivering to the Pakistan Embassy in Washington, D.C. Among the excellent and creative entries, David K. earned the top prize with this 97-second video.
This video and the others in the contest are excellent tools for telling others about Asia Bibi and encouraging them to sign the Call For Mercy petition. You may want to post a video on your Facebook page or website, show it in your church or Sunday School class, or e-mail a link to your friends.
