For about a year now i've been having a problem. Well I am a Catholic but i have two friends that were catholics and turned christian, they have been trying to take me to christian churches and get togethers with christians. I have been trying to learn more about the christian belief because i'm starting to believe more things in the christian religion then i do in the catholic religion. But the problem is my friends are constantly making fun of the rosary they throw it on the ground they always make fun of mary and just always making jokes about mary. They believe you should only pray to god and not mary. I don't pray to mary and i always come to jesus for my problems and always pray to jesus also . but I just think that my friends should be more respectful and not make fun of mary because she still is jesus's mother. I don't know how to tell them. and another thing is there sisters are older and start laughing when they make fun of mary. so there really supporting the problem. I just don't know what to do can anyone help.

I'm 70 years old and I grew up in the Catholic Church though I left Catholicism about twenty years ago.

I'm very familiar with the Catholic Church's practices regarding Mary and I agree with you regarding praying to her. I stopped doing that years ago. "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. Fo we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin. Let us the approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
We can take our petitions straight to Jesus.

(Hebrews 4:14-16).

If you want to protect your rosary from disrespectful treatment, keep it hidden; don't let those other girls see it.

Hello there.

You are seeking to learn more about being a born again Christian. I suggest you visit this link and read to find out answers on being born again. http://www.talkjesus.com/get-saved-now/

A lot of ex catholics are now saved and born again Christians and come here. The rosary is only connected with the roman catholics.

Jesus is the one we worship as He died for you to give you eternal life.

John.14.6
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Hope you come to know Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord. To have a personal relationship with Jesus is the best thing we can do.

God bless  :rainbow: :rose:

If they are making jokes *about* Mary, that would be impolite just as making jokes about anyone else. However, don't hold her up on a pedestal of any kind. She was human like anyone else who needed a Savior, whom she even gave birth to anyway.

GOD bless

I don't hold with mockery of any kind, its very rude,

although I would suggest maybe you could disengage yourself
from your rosary beads, as they have no place in the Christian life.

I have heard testimonies from converted R.C. and they are so out
for Jesus now sometimes more than others, they don't seem to
stop till their family also know Him.

So keep on learning and finding out, dont quit, Jesus will meet with
you, he stands at the door and knocks.

I am hoping you come through for Jesus, He is such a marvelous
Saviour, look what He did for us when we were still in our sin.

Keep on looking up, till you go up, Conchitolopez.

Hi Brother,

I can understand how you are feeling. It is difficult to confront people about something that you don't feel is right.

I think the rosary is not important. Our only connection to God is through His Son Christ Jesus. Mary was the mother of Jesus, but like Chad said, she too was a mere human.

I don't think that it is right that your friends are making jokes about her, or that they are throwing the rosary on the floor and stepping on it. Maybe you could tell them, politely, that even though you have turned away from the Catholic religion, that they shouldn't make fun of it.

If you don't feel comfortable talking to them about it, then pray about it. If the start to make fun of Mary, then walk away. You can show them with your actions that you don't feel that it's right.

I hope this helps brother!

Many Blessings,

well the problem is not me praying the rosary or worshiping mary. Like i said i come to jesus for my problems and i pray to jesus ever since i can remember. I think one of the reasons im in the catholic religion is i was raised with the religion and all my family is catholic. Also when they make fun of mary is most is in a catholic church because there dad is still catholic but his sisters and mom are christian they became christians about 2 years ago but the dad stayed in the catholic religion. So there dad asks the two kids to go with him and they also play guitar for the choir there. I think there dad make them i don't know the whole story but, everytime we leave church there always poking and trying to knock over the mary statues and the saint statues and the rosary. like i said i don't pray to saints or mary but i still think he should respect the catholic religion and there beliefs even though he's christian because his dad is catholic and so are most of his friends. i just think it's very disrespectful. i don't think jesus would approve of people making fun of his mother? I think monkeys kind of answered my question.

Hey conchitolopez

Hi conch. I was catholic too, but I am not any more. They teach too many false belief's in God. Praying the rosary is not a good thing to do, because it takes away from praying to our Lord God. God clearly states often that we pray only to Him and He also states that we are not to do anything that is just "man made". He tells us over and over to pray only to Him and not statues or images. The catholic church teaches a lot of terrible testimony, that isn't of God, however no one has the right to disrespect another persons belongings at any time. What your friends were doing was very unchristian.
I am glad that you have a relationship with Jesus. He will be with you all your life to direct and guide you on His straight path. Just a little blurb about God and praying to Him. I think this is rather nice.
Timothy 5:5
The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help.

Please read these two threads about Catholicism:

http://www.talkjesus.com/bible-chat/5886-christian-catholic.html
http://www.talkjesus.com/scriptural-answers/11205-catholicism.html

Anything to do with Catholicism should simply be dropped. The simplest answer to having a relationship with GOD *without* the junk created by man is to go directly to the Father in Jesus' name and read His Word, the Holy Bible ONLY.

That means no prayer to Mary, no rosary beads, no statues, no traditional uniforms and what have you. Its all about Jesus Christ found in the one and only Holy Bible.

GOD bless you brother. May the Holy Spirit guide you

Hi Conchito,

I am glad that I was able to answer you question. I know how difficult it can be. I do understand that you do not pray to the statues, Mother Mary, or have a rosary.

I do agree with you, it is important to respect Mother Mary, and not to be disrespectful. I says somewhere in the Bible (and I can't find it), that we should not put down other religions.

For someone who is Catholic, they would never think of being a Christian if they saw your friends making fun of the statues etc.

An important thing about being a Christian is imitating Christ. We have to set ourselves apart. We have to always think, what would Jesus do in the situation. Brother Chad posted a thread about this today as well.

I pray that your situation will improve and that you will be able to get through to your friends.

May God Bless you brother!

Me never been a Catholic or even close to that made me sit up and took note about the behavior of this so called friends of yours.

If they are Christians they would respect your possessions and never tease you about what you have and don't have. The fact that they trampled on the rosary reminds me of certain groups that will go out of their way to hurt Jesus. Not that I say the rosary is connected to Jesus, but this is the behavior that chase people away from Christianity and this is why questions is asked about our believes and religion. I prefer to call Christianity a way of living and not a religion as such.

If you are a Christian then you must behave like one, no but this or but that. Jesus gave us an example and that is what we should do nothing else. I suggest you pray for guidance and confront this friends of yours in a decent manner like Jesus would do. Remember Jesus is the way and nothing else will bring you salvation and closer to God than Jesus.

Christianity is a way of living (as Zulu says) - a relationship with the Lord Jesus.

Seems like your two friends need to ask Jesus to mould and shape them.

We are to walk as he walked.

I am sorry this is happening to you Conchito, but the Lord knows so lean on him and he to will open your eyes and ears, be strong. Jesus loves you.
