2 Corinthians 4:17,18
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
So, there is another realm besides this material realm. You see in 2 Kings 6 When the Prophet Elisha was telling the king of Israel the plans the king of Syria was making so that they could escape his ambushes. After a few times of that happening the king thought it was his own people, so he asked, which one you are a trader and one of his men told him, It's not us it's that prophet in Dothan he's telling the King of Israel the plans you're making, so the king said, Go get him. That's where I'm going to start reading: 2 Kings 6:14-17- 14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. 15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. Notice, there was two different realms of existence at the same time, in the same place, and both of them were real.
And a lot of times people think the physical realm is most important, but actually it's the spiritual. But, to operate in the spiritual you have to be spiritually minded, a person that's only natural minded can not walk in the spirit. Romans 8:5-8 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. They can not please God because when you are in the flesh you are separated from the provisions of God that are in the spirit. Death means separation so when you are carnally minded you are separated from the provisions of God. In 2 King 4:42-44 Here is Elisha and his servant when there was a famine in the land and it reads- 42 And there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat. 43 And his servitor said, What, should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the Lord, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof. 44 So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the Lord.
Notice, his servitor knew he didn't have enough food to feed a hundred hungry men, he was looking at what he had in his hands, but the man of God was not looking at what he had in his hands he was putting his trust in what God said. Like the scripture says, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. Now, here's the thing- everything about the physical realm is dependent on the spiritual realm. Hebrews 11:3 says, Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. So, the physical realm was created by the spiritual realm. Hebrews 1:3 says, Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power. And his word is spiritual s0, the spiritual realm is upholding the physical realm. Psalm 103:19 says, The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. And his kingdom is a spiritual kingdom. So, the physical is ruled by the spiritual. 1 Corinthians 1:26-28 says, For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are. When it says things that are not it's things that are not manifested, because you can't use something if it doesn't exist. So, God uses things that are not manifested(spiritual) to bring to nothing things that are(physical). 1 John 5:4 says, For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. And faith is spiritual so, the spiritual overcomes the physical.
The reason the physical is dependent on the spiritual is because the physical realm is simply a manifestation of the spirit realm. And people are sometimes more conscious of physical realities and not spiritual realities. Physical realities can't stand against spiritual realities, the scripture says the things which are seen are temporal-which means subject to change, but the things which are not seen are eternal-which means everlasting. So, the temporal can't stand against the eternal. Everything in the material world is connected to the spiritual realm, it has spiritual roots. Jesus says something in Matthew 7:17,18 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. What is Jesus saying, what you see above ground in the (seen) is dependent on what's happening under the ground in the (unseen). What you see above ground is a product or manifestation of what's going on in the unseen, under ground. The Holy Spirit showed me this way, He said, It's just like when you look in a mirror; you see your reflection. That reflection can not do anything on it's own, it is totally dependent on you. If you smile it will smile. If you frown it will frown. You never smile and your reflection frown, don't happen. Because, it can't do anything contrary to the source.
And the spiritual is the source of the physical realm, so what you establish in the spirit(the source) will be reflected in the physical(the reflection). John 17:17 says, Thy word is truth (it's truth in the spirit). So, Jesus could tell a man that was lame- Rise, take up your bed, and walk what was he doing; he was calling the man healed, he was establishing his healing in the spirit. And what Jesus established in the spirit the man could walk in in the physical. You might have a fact manifested in the physical, but it's the truth you establish in the spirit that will make you free from that fact. John 8:31,32 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. That's what 1 Corinthians 1:28 is talking about, God uses things which are not manifested to bring to nought/nothing things that are manifested. That's why you call things that be not as though they were, to establish the truth in the spirit. Abraham's body was dead and Sarah's womb was dead, but God told him that He had made him a father of many nations, where? in the spirit. So, He gave them names that were in line with his word. Abraham means Father of a multitude and Sarah means Princess of the multitude, so they were calling things that be not as though they were. They were establishing that truth in the spirit. Psalm 119:89 says, For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. But, man has to establish it in the earth, because He gave man dominion.
What you establish in the spirit will have that effect in the material world. So, even a man dead for four days couldn't stay dead because when they told Jesus about Lazarus he established in the spirit, this sickness will not end in death(that's what he said). When you don't know your authority to establish things in the spirit then your are left with the dictates of the physical. Which was never God's intention, Because He said, Have dominion and subdue the earth. That's an operation of the spirit not the flesh. You subdue from the spiritual. You are a spirit and when you speak you release words in the spirit. And according to Jesus words are seeds, they produce fruit in the physical. Seeds work from the unseen into the seen. What did David say in Psalm 141:3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. Notice, he called his lips a door, when you speak something out you give that thing legal entry into your life. Notice, that man released words in the spiritual, man is spirit and resides in the spiritual, and the words he established in the spirit caused a manifestation in this physical realm. There is another realm of activity and what goes on in that realm determines what happens in this realm. And you have been given the authority to speak into that realm and have it happen in this realm. Look at what Jesus said after he cursed that fig tree in Matthew 21:21- Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. So, don't just be conscious of the physical, be conscious of the spiritual.
It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess that Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
