He who walks with wise [men] will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20 NKJV
Some biblical principles are easier to live by than others. Today’s scripture is one of them.
While God will always provide the strength we need to do what He says, certain duties require a lot of faith. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego couldn’t have stood tall in that crowd of prostrate Babylonians without some serious commitment to their Lord.
But walking with the wise? That’s easy.
If you want to be wise, just make sure you’re hanging out with the right crowd. Look for other Christian guys who have a clear passion for the Lord and His Word. In this world, they’ll be pretty obvious…and because they are wise, they’ll be happy to include you in their lives. True Christianity is never an exclusive club.
As you walk with the wise, the proverbs say you’ll become wise. Then you can pass your wisdom along to other Christian guys, who will in turn do that for others. On and on the cycle goes until Jesus returns.
Really, it’s a pretty ingenious system. But wouldn’t you expect that from our all-wise God?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to be wise. Please lead me to wise men with whom I can walk…then help me to pass along the wisdom I gain to others.
