God is “light” yet God himself lives, and dwells within "light." Jesus is known as the Glory of the Father who is light. Jesus is the brightness of his Father's Glory (Heb 1:3) which is light, and God the Father is also light.
Light living inside light! The physical world was fashioned after the spiritual world, which is why in the Book of Romans it says......
Rom 1:20 For the INVISIBLE THINGS OF HIM FROM THE CREATION OF THE WORLD ARE CLEARLY SEEN, being understood by the things that are made, EVEN HIS ETERNAL POWER AND GODHEAD; so that they are without excuse:
Invisible things can be seen, by looking at the physical things created in the beginning. Even God's eternal power and Godhead!!!! The physical world is simply one huge “visual aid” to help man understand how things are in the invisible realm where God lives! Just because God is invisible (Col 1:15) does not mean you can not see him!!! We can not see God with the physical senses of our natural body. No amount of sunlight can reveal the spiritual realm. There needs to be another kind of light, not unlike sunlight that gives us the ability to see God who is light!!
Psa 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life: IN THY LIGHT SHALL WE SEE LIGHT.
Whatever makes things “VISIBLE” is “LIGHT” for it is light that makes all things visible! (Eph 5:13)
The physical world can be seen with our physical eyes because of the light from the sun. The ability to see God who is light is seen because of the Son of God who also is light!! In his light, we shall see light! (Psa 36:9)
Remember Jesus said......
Luke 10:22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom THE SON WILL REVEAL HIM.
Only the Son of God who is light can reveal God the Father who is also light. Light is an absolute necessity to be able to walk in the light!
The word “walk” means to “transport oneself somewhere”. Our primary mode of transportation in this physical world is by our two feet. Walking in the “light” has nothing to do with our two feet. Jesus said,” No man can come to the Father except by me” (John 14:6) Coming to the Father requires walking, but not the kind of walking we think it is. Coming boldly to the throne of Grace (Heb 4:16) which is not of this world, requires a transportation system unlike anything we have on earth!
Walking in the light, and walking in the Spirit are synonymous to each other. No one can walk in the Spirit without walking in the light, and visa versa. The Apostle Paul was walking in the light when he said...
Col 2:4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
Col 2:5 For though I BE ABSENT IN THE FLESH, YET AM I WITH YOU IN THE SPIRIT, JOYING AND BEHOLDING YOUR ORDER, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
Paul did NOT run around town peeking through windows to see what the Church was doing, and then run back and write his letters to them! Paul understood the power of the Kingdom of God which he was translated into along with all the saints of God. This goes way beyond mere sense knowledge that the human mind can comprehend. It transcends anything man could understand in our carnal brain, in fact, the carnal mind says this is just foolish thinking!!! Anyone can be a Christian and have a unrenewed carnal mind!!
The Apostle John said.....
Rev 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and IN THE KINGDOM and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev 1:10 I WAS IN THE SPIRIT on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
John was caught up to the throne of God in the Spirit, and in the light, and talked to Jesus Christ who was in his Glorified supernatural body!
Paul said that he would come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2Co 12:1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I WILL COME TO VISIONS AND REVELATIONS OF THE LORD.
Visions and revelations of Jesus Christ do not just happen on their own as they are the results of walking in the light and Spirit.
1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jn 1:7 But IF WE WALK IN THE LIGHT, AS HE IS IN THE LIGHT, WE HAVE FELLOWSHIP ONE WITH ANOTHER, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Walking in the light causes a relationship to happen between God and the person who is walking in that light!
