I found this website that I thought was doing an awesome job of making a difference in what is seen on TV.
They (the website people) keep track of television shows and if they find something offensive, they will send you an email once a week to let you know.
Then it is up to you, but you can send an email to the sponsor of the show, they provide the email address. The email could be one of their letters, one you write yourself, or a combination of both.
Companies like Sonic, Coke, Arby's, Dairy Queen, etc. no longer advertise on shows like:
The Man Show
Desparate Housewives
The FX channel
The Britney Spears "Crucifixins" episode on Will and Grace
