Was God sending me a clear message?

Today I went for an interview for a role that is very inline with my interests. The company offices looked very plush, however, I couldn't help noticing the art that's been displayed around the building.

I counted at least 5 pictures of skulls in the reception area and I wondered what that was about.

I know that God wants us to be a light in some of the workplaces we go to, but at the same time I am conscious of not wanting to get myself into compromising situations.

I wondered whether this is God's message of telling me to forget about it?

I wonder whether I'm over sensitive to art, imagery etc?

Doesnt sound good, but instead of assuming evil, call and ask. Tell them you saw the artwork and thought it unusual for a workplace, and was wondering if it carried some message.

The most important thing I believe is to be a beacon of light in the darkness. So if the skull is in fact something "dark" there, you can still shine bright. Nothing to fear.

I wouldn't want to willingly put myself in a position where I was working for a sociopath, psychopath, satanist, or similar.

Skulls don't mean a person(s) is any of those things, but if you feel unsettled by it, you owe it to yourself to dig into the matter more and find out what the deal is.

There's lots of people I wouldn't work for for a number of reasons. If the Lord specifically tells you to work somewhere, that's a whole different ball game.

Blessings,

Travis

Personally, I wouldn't jump to assuming it's nothing to worry about since the Holy Spirit speaks to us, and it sounds to me like He was speaking to you.

Now I know that we aren't suppose to fear anything, and be a light, and there's possibly opportunity to witness etc. (glanced over replies)

But... God tells us in His word to flee from evil. I personally use to get urges to leave similar to your description when I would go into places that gave me weird feelings. There was just a feel about it that I knew something is wrong. While I was in these places, I typically went thinking "I can witness to them, etc." The problem with this was that God wasn't telling me to witness to them.

I knew the feeling. And the feeling said to leave. Do I think it's oversensitivity? In my opinion from experience, I don't think we can be "oversensitive" to the Holy Spirit. That's like saying "only listen to Him if He screams it at you."

While there are many reasons to go ahead with it despite what you feel, I would pray and not stop until God tells you or shows you what HE wants.

I wouldn't leave anything to human reasoning when what you describe sounds like things I've felt in the past. And though I brushed it off back then, looking back I know now that when God speaks to me, and I get feelings like that... it's for a reason. God isn't silent concerning those He loves. He lives in us.

Did you pray about it? What did God tell you? If you have no answer yet...Keep asking HIM. Ya?

Extra....When in doubt ..Don't

At least twice prophets told the Apostle Paul not to go to Jerusalem because if he did he was going to suffer. Their prophecies were true, but Paul recognized it was God's will for him to go there anyway and he did. What is God's will for you?

You have received here some Pros (pursue the job) and some Cons (don't pursue the job), but the best answer was to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit. We see in scripture where people went both ways, toward their enemies and away from their enemies in accord with God's will. What we always need to do is God's will, but we need to know what it is in order to do it...
