We do not love the Lord!

How many times do we find ourselves having little time to serve the Lord, whether it is through tithing, prayer or ushering? We often complain that the Lord demands too much of our time when we serve in church as musicians and look at our watches when the preacher preach a little too long for our liking. The time we spent on our television and books on secular subjects are way more than the time we spent with the Lord reading the bible or praying. Yet, we still think so highly of ourselves as Christians and think if ever we are persecuted for the Lord, we will not betray Him as we truly love the Lord! Do we truly love Him?

Why are we not spending more time with Him, then? Why are we not praying longer, tithing more, or serving in the church more? Why are we not taking an active stand against abortions and homosexuality, if we truly do not fear to be persecuted? Why are we not actively sharing the gospels with non-believers? Why are we hiding in our own little Christian corner instead of confronting the world for its wickedness? Why don't we speak out more against evil? Is it a wonder society is losing their sense of right and wrong, and having no fear of God?

It is time to repent and admit that we do not truly love the Lord! Then, we need to slowly take steps to love Him more. Start by spending more time with Him reading the bible or praying. Then, slowly, one step at a time, do the other things!

'Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.'
(Col 3:16-17)

Hello @Chongshipei

Thank you for this admonition.

In Christ Jesus
Chris

It is time to repent and admit that we do not truly love the Lord!
It is not a good idea to lecture and condemn people you have never met, and have no idea as to their personal commitments.
If you want to write about a certain topic that you believe applicable to Christian life and faith I suggest that you do so in more general terms, and not as a direct condemnation against everybody here on TalkJesus.
Why are we not praying longer, tithing more, or serving in the church more?
Well that is your viewpoint as to how to serve the Lord - thankfully not mine.
Tithing is not a commandment of the NT.
How do you know how long or how often we pray?
Serving the church usually means serving the needs of a corporate organization [buildings, working bees, cleaning rosters, etc] - but scripture teaches us that serving the church is actually attending to our
brothers and sisters - visiting the sick, praying one for another, sharing in times of need, given to hospitality, sharing our burdens, the strong supporting the weak, and so on.

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power.
2Thessalonians 1:3, 11

Greetings Nick,

It might be that your reaction is uncalled for?

I don't see any condemnation against anyone at TalkJesus. Please remember also that we have many more guests, who do not join, who visit and read such as is posted.
You might find that the OP was something for all people, as in those who call themselves by the name of the LORD, to consider their ways and honestly and deeply see if indeed they have that great love that they once might have had.

Often Christians can begin drifting away from the Light and we all do need exhortation and encouragement to Keep the Faith and press on, to check that we are not spending our life in and of the world and to spur each other on in the race, to build each other up and to welcome any and all opportunity to fellowship in Hislove, knowing that it is the Father's pleasure to give us the Kingdom and to delight in His Son.

Thank you for caring about others here, though.

Jesus is the Lord

Bless you ....><>

One could read that into the post, but it doesn't seem directed as a personal attack against the members here or Christians in general. If anything, it serves as a warning to those proclaiming Christ to avoid becoming complacent or worse, thinking one is above reproach.

My own Pastor frequently reminds the congregation about the points you mention. I recently watched a video of an African priest literally tearing a strip off his congregation for their complacency. When I'm in a store at the checkout, I do small talk with the cashier which is also dependent on how busy the place is, Sometimes if the place is quite busy, I'll comment, "A quiet day in the office?". I receive a chuckle or a response if they still have a sense of humour. I was recently in a store which was busy. The cashier at the end of the counter was busy and I asked her "Another quiet day in the office?" to which she gave me a smile. But, my cashier was closer to the waiting line and she had no sense of humour whatsoever, never cracking a smile, and not even speaking other than necessary. Without knowing specifics or finding fault, Individually they gave two very different portrayals. I also chatted with a store clerk stocking shelves and despite being busy, we had a friendly conversation.

I didn't come here to point fingers at you or anyone else as there is no halo above my head. There will be moments when we are required to go above and beyond, and encountering people who rub us the wrong way, How we respond to those situations says much about our character and our walk with Jesus. And, there may be days when we blow a gasket over seemingly trivial stuff. That's being human. There is a maxim, "One draws more bees with honey than vinegar". Our walk with Jesus should be one that people can confirm or deny we emulate Jesus and desire that, too. Are we not called to be the salt of the earth? I know, I'm rambling. Cheers.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance: against such, there is no law.

Interesting that you mention tithing so many times as if that has anything to do with spending time with the Lord. First it is not a requirement of our Covenant (except in the interest of wealthy scamvangelists) and I know quite a few who tithe (which is fine but a personal choice) who do not spemd much time with the Lord and many who spend a lot of time with the Lord who do not tithe. I love the Lord and spend most of my time with Him and He is always with me. When I can tithe I do and He loves me and when I cannot (and He knows) He loves me still. I walk with Him all day every day (as does my wife) and one has nothing to do with the other. He does not care about your money and the modern version is NOTHING like the outline in the Torah. Now if you tithe regularly that is great, praise the Lord, if you cannot, praise the Lord. He loves a cheerful giver and each week put aside that which you cn give not neglecting the needs of your family (which is worse than being an infidel according to the word).

Greetings in the Lord
Truth stings abit, don't it?
She is right on with the message. Remember, the message burned through her first. Then she brought it to us.
Condemns? Do you not know what condemns a person? John 3:18
May want to check it out.

All praise glory and honor be unto God. Amen
