A Rabbi from france asked the jews around the world will get together in one shabbat (the closest one to the Israeli independence day) to keep it so the jewish messiah will come. The president of Israel thought about it
and thought of instead just coming to the synagouges and keep the shabbat.. people will come to a special prayer for peace and will ask
muslim and christian leaders around the world that in their holidays around that date also do special prayers for peace.

I guess from an atheist point of view its more symbolic to show the will to make peace not just praying that it will happen.

You never really expressed why you became an atheist j4jh? Would you care to talk about it?

by studying by living and by expirience. but its not that matters the reasons. I dont want people stop beliving I dont care (as long as peoples belife dont demand them to kill me)

I thought so, but did you ever take this into account?

1 Timothy 6:11-16

11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

Timothy 6:20-21

20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge— 21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith.
Grace be with you. Amen.

2 Timothy 3

Perilous Times and Perilous Men

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

trust me during the time i was thinking of becoming an atheist I read the bible alot.

I understand, and you see from God's perspective that the supposed "knowledge" you have is foolish and of the world?

I'm not here to convince you otherwise, you made a decision, but you can change it too, it's up to you. I have no doubt that God exists, infact, if I had to tell you that I know He exists, you wouldn't believe me either ;)

I'll be praying for you j4jh

I dont belive in the bible. for me and I am sorry if its offenssive for anyone its just a book with tales. some are good with right attitudes and points.. and some are not. some of it entertamient and some used to help you live in those times. most of the western cultures was impacted by this book, yet we dont live as its stated in it.

I had 2 ways to see the bible in the past. one as a true thing and the other one, as a legacy something that passed down thorugh ages and generations not have to be true but part of the history culture and way of life. but it dont take main place in my life as in the past.

Studying, living and experiencing is what all of us do. You don't believe because you don't believe. I believe because I beleive. It is that simple really.

What have you to benefit from prayer for peace if you have no belief?

Hey isnt this like a news section? I am just reporting :).
Execept a good feeling and it is like mmm affecting people to act as tjey want peace maybe will make it closer to reach that.

Hiya J4Jh, it is a news section and I'm glad that you posted it here becasue I actually didn't know about the weekend of prayers for peace.
But I'm sad that you're an athiest

So you believe in prayer but your an atheist? What has GOD done that you disbelieve Him suddenly? Who's feeding you and telling your body to heal from sickness and covering you with a home over your head and blessing you with creatures you love?

Remember, you die in disbelief will cost your soul eternity in hell. That's the straight truth brother. Read my last post too. Food for thought.

Hello, j4jh. I'm glad you're posting on TJ again. You keep trying to paint yourself as an atheist, but it isn't working and you know it. I apologize for the condemnation that was leveled at you.

I dont belive in prayers. I belive this is some kind of politic manuver where people can show signs that they are intersted in peace. peace isnt totally humans nature and there will never be a real peace i wont deny it. I read those stuff btw. I dont belive in that. dont blame me.
Just to tell ya something ppl.. my city is under attacks again and ppl got hurt and houses got smashed so.. thats what i live in. btw just let u know missionaris worked here and they didnt act like ppl with bravery.
they didnt mentioned jesus at all when they try to give NT copies and stuff tried to go backdoors. like a theif trying to get into house at night.

later on most of the books were collected and maybe were destroyed. people got mad about this thing. if those are ppl of jesus than i dont think they r doing gr8 espcially not here and they really try lately to take advantage of the securtiy situation in here.

You don't believe in that stuff I shared with you? Then I think your a liar, not an honest man. You went from believer to unbeliever, why? That is 100% equivalent to saying GOD did you wrong, which all sane people know is not true. If your not a believer, what are you doing here on this forum then? What is your goal, your motive? Tell me. Do you judge Christianity in whole based on your very very limited knowledge of what you see in your own home town? That's very dishonest.

Gee, that's terrible J4jh about your home and about the missionaries too. Well it's not always a good idea to put your faith in people because most of the time they'll let you down. I find myself asking where are the St. Pauls? We need those kinds of peoples today!

I am praying for peace for your country (I do not support the peace process that is currently being discussed among politicians but that's another conversation). Knowing there will never be peace in a sin-ridden world, until Jesus returns, shouldn't deter anyone from praying for it or from God Himself. If it's so bad for you that you lose your faith in God.... I suppose the world has won. But let me tell you something, I'm not going to let the world win me. No matter what shall happen, peace or not, I will never lose my faith in God.

I know people who are so tired of religious wars and cultural differences that they've lost their own faiths. Well this kind of thing is predicted in the Bible...

Matt. 24:12-13 "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."

J4JH: I have a question - Is prosletyzing illegal in Israel just as it is everywhere ele in the Middle East and in the Far East? I suspect that it is, as those countries try to stop people from converting to Christianity.

So, missionaries working in these countries, including Israel, are operating in hostile or potentially hostile environments all the time, which requires caution. There's a big difference between bravery and stupidity. Jesus taught us to be "as shrewd as snakes and as gentle as doves." Their4 working there in the midst of the strife you described is an act of bravery but, it is bravery seasoned with common sense.

its not totally illegal but its not welcomed that much.
and there are organizations and opposers to any kind of preaching (from JW/watchtower through scientology and to theosophy)

Chad my motives is to connect with ppl who are, like me want peace in the world and want to strength the relations between jews and christians
and to sometimes have a nice chat with good people.

furhter then that? nothing. its not like i am here 24/7 and reading every message..

anyway I liked theology in the past and still am.. and here i can study about evengalism.
