What should we be doing daily to serve those that have been divorced, fatherless, and even homeless?
Is there a person, place, or thing , who where and what and how?
Please and thank you, I want to learn about these things..

But I don't know if I am the best to help...

I would say 'do something'. Talk to church pastors locally - what good work is there that you could support. Maybe you're the guy who's brilliant at admin and can help people fill in forms so they get the benefits they are entitled to, or a brilliant and caring listener, or super reliable and just get things done.

Start by filling a gap and doing the menial tasks - you'll soon find your way to a role that matches your gifts and abilities.

I am honestly trying to get benefits myself.
I suck at filling out forms... I was thinking more around the lines of help like humans... And the others will help us fill out forms..?

I have one gift--the Holy spirit.
No talents or special things about me that I know of.

start small do you drive and see homeless people? have a bag with some food for them ready to hand them put a bible track in it, put some info in it wear they can get some help locally
I was homeless before my parents took me back in...in may 2019... St Martins and westside homeless shelter/joy junction did some part in helping me..

I bet I could find dozens of gifts and abilities if i stayed with you for a fortnight.

I run deliveries and stack shelves at a local food bank. It requires no skill at all - just the willingness to put the effort in.

Loads of things are mainly about showing up and giving practical help - listening to children who are learning to read at school, helping the cleaning at your church or a nightshelter etc. These things can make a real difference.

And yes, if you need meds and benefits keep taking them.

Blessings

@Hekuran -- we are also trying to work with COVID restrictions. Masks being mandated in many places -- social distancing. Lots of areas have students doing on-line classes. People are scared of contracting COVID, And getting in to See a Dr. can be very challenging. Some people face More challenges than others.

And not all people can Get a driver's license.

Not trying to be difficult, just realistic for the place an individual lives.

Yes, and it's a bitter irony that at the time when most people need help, we are most restricted in offering it. What I'm emphasising is that a person's time and commitment can be immensely valuable regardless of gifts and resources. BTW I do food bank deliveries by push bike, not car.

@Hekuran -- and that's what the government is after. People being so restricted from helping each other that we are 'forced' to rely on government aid. We are apparently so willing to give up freedom on a "temporary" basis that 'temporary' is being gradually put in place to be a 'new' way of life -- for the betterment of 'society'.

And who is to be taking care of widows and orphans? in the Bible -- family are to be caring for family and those with no family are to be looked after by the local church. Society has so messed up the concept Of 'family' that it's hardly recognizable any more. The concept of husband / wife and children -- mixed families -- people moving in together and having kids together. Then That doesn't 'work out' so they 'move on' to Another 'relationship. No emotional security for kids Or adults.

but there are still Lots of people who Do get married and have Good marriages and stay together through thick and thin and Show their love -- Godly love.

Back to widows and orphans. I've been widowed for two years now. In my early 70's and grown kids. Death didn't bring us closer together -- it divided 'them'. I've been observing -- while churches were still open for everyone. That the widowers / widows who have family / friends close by do better.

But the isolation that is supposedly for the good of the elderly -- I don't know who anyone is talking to -- because the elderly certainly don't want to be protected from anything. I'm in the younger range of elderly and I don't like being by myself. I'd Love to have people come over. But the few friends I Did have are older than I am -- the don't go very far. But a few of those elderly decide to get together Anyway -- in their homes to play bingo or whatever. One got tested a while back and came out Positive -- was never sick at all. But she had to have a test come back Negative. Which it did. But she really did Not like being cooped up.

It ends up doing more harm than good.

Then again -- the powers that be are deciding that there are too many people in this country / the world. Population 'needs' to be cut down. So -- the more vulnerable are isolated to 'encourage' loneliness / depression and 'death by isolation'. Sounds really cruel even saying that. But there Are those who want only the fit of society To live. Survival of the fittest -- part of evolution. Kind of like 'we' are simply sophisticated animals. The most highly developed. So -- 'we' are expendable. There are those who like being allowed to 'play 'god' in Society. And eventually 'they ' will meet the True God and answer to Him.

I would love to listen to children read and go to work and clean at church! Those all are simple beautiful things and positions to fill in, i have willingness, now just need a schedule of things to do, and a person to oversee it.

I live with my parents, I would love spend the night with a person willing to show me new things. I've never been with one..

The verse in James is referennce t o the gospel. . it is hid in that parable . The widows( un-married) like the orphans (fatherless) represent Christianity . Again, the widows those not married and the oraphabn n maknkind without a heavenly father .

It is the kind of reliogion our father aporoves. . . us in Him working in us to both wil and empoowerus to do the will of our husband Christ .

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

In that way the two ministries visting the widowed Christians and the fatherless unbeleiver with the gospel . I would think widowed Christians the greater need. Many suffer loneliness.

The widowed would be the unmarried. Whether married previously before or not.

You can help in different ways .Prayer the first. Sharing your love for the word of God even with stranger’s .Today the commandment to go out into the world with the gospel can be enlightening as a messenger or angel. I would think it is a ministry in much need of those who share the gospel especially during the pandemic. Be a beacon of light you could be all the immediate family of the family of God.

In the end of the matter as believers we come to Christ the husband as widows and fatherless.

How would you recommend a person going to share it in the simplest form of service?

I struggle to find what and where is my calling to be and be at...
I would say no easy answer,.The fact you have a God given desire is where everyone begins. You are supplying a need even as you struggle .

All the spiritual gifts are two fold. God gives the desire to bring his word to one "the gift of prophecy as a aportle one sent with the word and the other he gives ears to hear the understanding of the prophecy ,The mutual faith of Christ working in all the believers spoken of in Romans 1

Romans1: 12 -17 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

The mutual faith of Christ that works in all belivers is also shown working in that way below...

2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

. Rest in Him he can make the struggle lighter. Widows and orphans cry out of loneliness . He has the power to to help sooth our anixities
