1.) God has invested a lot in your words, and I don't think people realize how important your words are. Especially, if you are a child of God. Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. He's in there, but is he manifesting. Because, the thing is he needs your cooperation. He is a spirit and you are a spirit, but God has established that only a spirit with a physical body has authority on the earth. So, he needs you to speak to authorize him. So, he's limited to what he can do legally, because he's limited to what you speak. It has to be in line with God's word for him to act. Even Jesus said in John 14:10 0 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Notice, he did the work when Jesus spoke, so if he didn't speak then The Holy Spirit didn't move. Even back in Genesis 1:1-3:
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
He didn't move without the word, without being authorized. His job is to manifest the word. So, word has go forth for him to move. Once the word goes forth then he's authorized, without the word he's not authorized. Mark 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. To preach simply means to proclaim, so he manifests the word. Titus 1:3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching. So, without the word there's nothing for him to manifest.
2.) That's The Holy Spirit, and you see in Hebrews 3:1, Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession(or confession), Christ Jesus.
High priest of our confession-(confession to say the same thing). So, Jesus has a ministry in heaven over what you speak in line with the word. He doesn't minister for you based on your own words, he only ministers for you when you speak in line with God's words. So, if you spend all your time complaining about circumstances, he can't minister with that. That's why the scripture says, " Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)." Because, he can only minister for you in agreement with God's word, anything else he can't use. In Psalm 103:19 it says, The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. The word kingdom is defined as rule, reign, a dominion. And Jesus tells us how the kingdom operates, Mark 4:26-28:
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
And we know the scripture says, the seed is the word of God, so again we're back at speaking the word. So, God rules and reigns through his word. So, his rule and reign in your life is limited if you're not speaking the word. In Genesis 1:28 God said, Let them have dominion. So, God has invested authority in your words. And when you are dealing with authority you don't get what you want you get what you say. Matthew 8:8,9 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
3.) And you see Paul in Acts 16:16-18 when he was confronted by a spirit of divination his authority.
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
Notice, he allowed that spirit to grieve him those many days, he didn't operate in his authority until he spoke. And once he spoke that spirit was cast out. What you say about your circumstances is important, like in Numbers 13 & 14 when 10 of the 12 spies that came back murmured against The Lord, that word murmur means to stay, abide, continue, dwell, remain, tarry. So, as long as you complain you stay in it. Numbers 14:28-30:
Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:
29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me.
30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
So, all those that complained stayed were they were. So, when you talk the circumstances you give them the right to stay there. And God is limited in what He can do for you because he would be working against himself.
4.) For him to give you the authority and then work against it He would be working against himself. And He can't do that, like when they accused Jesus of casting out devils by devils. Matthew 12:22-26
22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
So, if God gives you the authority and then works against it he's working against himself, He can't do that. So, as long as you complain and grumble, you have a free will and authority and God will not violate them. I think that's why a lot of times people's prayers go unanswered, because they pray and then get up and start talking against it. Well, when you do that you cancel out your prayer. You can't talk against the thing you want God to do. Like, in 2 Kings 6 during a time of famine when the people were desperate and they were eating pigeon poop and boiling babies. After the king heard that he went to get a word from The Lord from the man of God, 2 Kings 7:1,2:
Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
I like how The CEV translation puts it, The chief officer there with the king replied, “I don't believe it! Even if the Lord sent a rainstorm, it couldn't produce that much grain by tomorrow.” “You will see it happen, but you won't eat any of the food,” Elisha warned him. Notice, what kept him from partaking of what God said, his mouth. You cut yourself off when you speak against God's plans. God is serious about authority, so you have to use it wisely. When God gives authority He backs it.
5.) That's why David was so bold in 1 Samuel 17 when he came up against Goliath, he knew he had heavenly back up. 1Samuel 17:44-47:
44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.
You can talk big when you know God is backing you. When you speak in his name/in his authority He backs you with his power. When God authorizes you to speak in his name that means you speak it and I'll do it. You see in Deuteronomy 21:5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the Lord thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the Lord; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried. Then God shows them in Number 6:22-27:
22 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.
You say it and I'll do it. You see again in 1 Samuel 2:20,21 with Eli the priest:
20 And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The Lord give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the Lord. And they went unto their own home.
21 And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the Lord.
6.) That was them in The Old Testament, but we have something in The New Testament. Didn't Jesus say whatever you ask in my name that will I do. One meaning of the word ask means to demand. Now, you are not demanding God, Acts 3:6,7,13
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus.
Notice, again you say it and I'll do it. So, when you have authority from God make sure you use it in line with God and not against God. You see in Joshua 6 when Joshua and the children of Israel defeated Jericho God had Joshua pronounce a curse-Joshua 6:26 Then Joshua declared a terrible curse upon anyone who might rebuild Jericho, warning that when the foundation was laid, the builder’s oldest son would die, and when the gates were set up, his youngest son would die. And anywhere between 500 and 1000 years later, In his days, Hiel the Bethelite rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the Lord, which He spoke through Joshua the son of Nun. Notice, in accordance with the word of the Lord, which He spoke through Joshua the son of Nun. So, when Joshua was speaking it wasn't just him speaking, God was speaking. So, when you are speaking with God's authority your mouth becomes God's mouth. Your words take on a whole new level of authority and power. So, when God gives you authority use it wisely.
It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Romans 5:8-10 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. [10] For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 2 Peter 3:9 King James Version 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
