What do you think re tatoo's

Is it wrong to spray paint some artwork on a church building without the consent of its owners?

I do not think so. I have a personal rule for my tattoos and that's that I won't put anything negative on my body. I think our thoughts and words, as well as actions are very powerful. Like anything, it really depends on intention and what is in your heart.

Is it wrong to get tattoos

Lets look at a different way, oK? What make it right to get a tattoo? The Bible is not silent on the subject. Leviticus 19:28 "You shall not make any cuts in your body, for the dead, nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves; I am the LORD." Some might say that is in the OT. But so are the 10 Commandments, and instructions about amrriage, sex, and a lot of other issues. More that 50% of the N.T. is from the O.T. You can't say you have not been told, and there is no excuse not to obey the Bible verse. Even if its a Bible verse, the Bible says not to tattoo your body! To do so is a sin, and there is no way to justify it. Don't do it.

But what about the other stuff in the old testament...like not wearing mixed fabrics, and not eating bacon/pork/etc. We don't uphold a lot of those older laws so I guess I just have an issue with seeing tattoos as wrong, but not the other stuff.

The difference with mesing up the body the Lord has given us, is much different that mixing treads. The 10 commandments are still valid, so is the tattoo warning. God forgives, but to mark up your body as a billboard is a sin, not my words.

Personally I would not have a tattoo because I don't believe that it would give glorify The Lord and I could'nt give thanks for it either

Col 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

1 Cor 10:31
Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

I went and read the first post and several others following the tatoo link. This is the first site ever, where either a moderator or pic (person in charge) came right out and said NO tats!

I just might be in the right forum finally! LOL!

I have read so many threads in forums where even the mods will jump in and people you thought 'knew' better and they will give a thumbs up to tats and say they are tools for witnessing
and so on. I don't see that and I have to agree that scripture says not to mark yourself.

Of course, and I noticed it used in the other thread, one of the all time fav remarks or excuses people make, is to draw attention to men's sideburns or mixing threads ...
I guess when you are looking for an excuse, you will always find one.

Good call on the tats.

ps...excuse sp errors or missing words ..I tend to do that even if I edit:confused:

I had a very blessed friend who was a older man when I first ment him. He had become a Pastor when he retired from the NAVY. He had two tattoos that had womens bodies. He felt so bad he used a razor knife and scrapped them off. The scar was a real mess. He always wore shirts with long sleves. Until the day he dies he felt so ashamed that he had marked up his body, that he knew was a mess because of what he said wasa drunken mistake.

Often men and now women who have marks on their bodies are a sign of rebellion. Even if the message is a christian tattoo it still is wrong. The Bible says not to mark your body. I believe it's always best to obey the Bible. But no matter what we have done God loves us and can forgive 1John 1:9. Proof id King David, if God can forgive and love David, He can do the same no matter what we have done.

Marking our bodies is a symbol of a deeper issue. Who is in charge of me? I know there are times I fail so bad, I can hardly believe that that I deserve to bare the name of Jesus Christ and that he loves me. The older I get the deeper I think I do not deserve to be loved by Jesus. The love of God is so strong, and I need a tight hold on my heart that is prone to wander. The man that wrote Amazing Grace said He was a great sinner, and God was a great God to save such a great sinner. (not a quote, just my understanding)

If you are a great sinner, God is greater than all our sins.

Amen! I'm sorry that man was so dispondant over what he had done.....sometimes it is hard to grasp that not only are we forgiven, but absolutley forgiven and God remembers our sins no more.
