What I think about sexual sin

I think sexual sin is as any other sin as far as God is concerned and we all make mistakes (there is none pure, none who does right, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23) and 1 Corinthians 10-12 says beware you who think you stand, unless you fall, God is faithful He will not let you be tempted beyond that which you can bear but will provide a way out. Yes we (should/must!) change as Christians as we grow in our walk with the Lord, but we must be careful, legalism can make new Christians stumble and perhaps fall. We are saved by grace, totally by grace not of ourselves or our own righteousness, I had a hard time recently about 'my sin' and then it came to me, Jesus died for the sins of the world, the sins of the whole world throughout history....thats an awful lot of sins! So I prayed and peace returned to me, we do battle with our weaknesses, but Gods grace is truly amazing.

Sexual immorality is a serious issue, especially nowadays where it is ever more rampant than before. It is so bad that people do not even comprehend the consequence of it, and what seems for the most part realize that a lot of the diseases is a result of this great sin:

- aids/hiv
- other sexually transmitted diseases

Proverbs 6:24-26

24 To keep you from the evil woman,
From the flattering tongue of a seductress.
25 Do not lust after her beauty in your heart,
Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.
26 For by means of a harlot
A man is reduced to a crust of bread;
And an adulteress[a] will prey upon his precious life.

jean.....Gods grace is truly amazing

Amen, his grace is efficient for me.

I was once lost, but now I'm found.

I sometimes reflect on my pass about all my " could of ,should of, would of ''
And it's depressing and gives no glory to God, for he already won the victory for me,and my sins are no longer before me.

Our God is an awesome God.

Ephesians 2:1-5
By Grace Through Faith

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

I must agree with Chad sexual sin is a big issue. It's the one sin in which we destroy our temple. And the holy spirit can only dwell in what is Holy. Yes sin is sin, I hear christians say it all the time.

But we can not take away the seriousness and consequences lead by this sin or any sin.

I am glad this could become a real discussion. Sister Jean posted her message in the mens forum, but since it's men only I asked her if she wants it moved, I'm glad she said yes.

I am a man, like any other. I struggle with sexual sin each day of my life. The main concern for me is that I was involved in sexual sin as a teenager, it was bad roots to start with.

Jesus removed most of my guilt, but I have to say the conscience is not clear. I am reminded upon occasion that someone might find out about what I did, my friends, family.

Some days I just say, "well so be it". Other days I say "please God, don't let it happen".

I'd like to ask for prayer today, that I won't fall into this sin again and that I may live a free man.

God bless

Jesus is Love

I thank you Lord for delivering my brother from the bondage of sin.
I praise you for the covering you've place over his mind and body.

Lord we are all sinners yet, you still love us and desire to be with us.

Help my brother to forgive himself of the pass, his former way that you have already forgotten. Free him mentally that he would stand knowing that his desires are now under your control.

He is your servant abide in him, bless him for his honesty. You have already restored him, so fill him with you Holiness that he will always walk in truth and righteousness.

Amen

Thank you so much for the gracious prayer sister. I prayed with you and I believe that Jesus will give me closure.

Thank you again.

Much love
Your brother

Amen to that!

This sin is hard for me also, especially being a 18 year old teenager. I will pray for you Brother Teraside and also pray for me. I can always use prayers. Nice article, by the way. This subject needs to be addressed.

Teraside,

In the program of Alcoholics Anonymous (and the other 12-step programs that use AA's approach) there is a personal inventory and confession process that really works. It involves drawing up a "fearless and thorough moral inventory of ourselves" on paper (the 4th step) and admitting "to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs."(the 5th Step).

That "another human being" does not have to be anyone you know (not a family member or friend or neighbor or co-worker), but the "admitting" should be done face-to-face and the person should be someone you can count on to protect your anonimity.

This works, Jako, it really does. The emotional release that comes from just getting the garbage out by confessing things face-to-face to another person is awesome!

You don't have to carry this garbage around any more, my friend. Find a minister or counsellor or some other person and spit it out, man! Get rid of it! And remember, "If you were the only one who ever did it, there wouldn't be words to describe it."

I love you, my friend. Let me know how it works out for you.

Thank you dearest brother SLE. I'll have to search for that friend or counselor.

God bless you brother

Thank you so much for addressing this big issue, I have no desire to diminish sexual sin at all. From a personal point of view, I just don't like to see people put off Christianity/The Lord because they see a list of rules to be obeyed before they have hardly started their Christian walk. We all struggle with some weakness in our lives surely. Let us take heart and remember that the Lord understands completely and if we genuinely seek Him and desire change, the Holy Spirit will help us to overcome. It may take time, the self-will is very strong but God is faithful and true - one thing at a time, he's very generous too I have found.

Acts
19*And so my judgment is that we should stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God, 20*except that we should write to them and tell them to abstain from eating meat sacrificed to idols, from sexual immorality, and from consuming blood or eating the meat of strangled animals. 21*For these laws of Moses have been preached in Jewish synagogues in every city on every Sabbath for many generations.”

1Corinthians 6:18-20
18*Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. 19*Or don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20*for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

1Corinthians 10:6-8
6*These events happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did 7*or worship idols as some of them did. For the Scriptures say, “The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged themselves in pagan revelry.”* 8 And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day.

Ephesians 5:3-9
3*Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. 4*Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. 5*You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is really an idolater who worships the things of this world. 6*Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible anger of God comes upon all those who disobey him. 7*Don’t participate in the things these people do. 8*For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! 9*For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

Colossians 3:5&6
5*So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires. Don’t be greedy for the good things of this life, for that is idolatry. 6 God’s terrible anger will come upon those who do such things.

1Thessalonians 4:1-5
1*Finally, dear brothers and sisters,* we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You are doing this already, and we encourage you to do so more and more. 2*For you remember what we taught you in the name of the Lord Jesus. 3*God wants you to be holy, so you should keep clear of all sexual sin. 4*Then each of you will control your body* and live in holiness and honor—5*not in lustful passion as the pagans do, in their ignorance of God and his ways.
