What is 'Christian Identity'?

I typed Christian into my searchengine to see if there was a comparable website to TalkJesus. (there isn't).
I came across the phrase Christian identity and clicked on it. To my surprise, up came Aryan Nation and other equally disgusting, racist links.
Have I made a mistake or is the word Christian being usurped by groups of thugs?
Could someone please enlighten me.
This site claims that Jews are the infernal result of union between Satan and Eve and that people of colour are 'mud people'.
Can these vile people really be called Christians. I hope not, I could never identify with them. What is dangerous is the fact that new people to Christianity will innocently do what I did and be put off by this profound hate filled website.
Please brother Chad, help me and others recognise these satanic groups using our Lords name and church.

Training in identifying the counterfeit begins with studying the genuine.

All you or anyone has to do, is study to know Christ, it makes it easy to spot the counterfeits. Father promises that the man or woman who searches for Him with all their heart, will find HIM - not a counterfeit. I do not worry anyone will find something less than God, if they are sincere in their quest for God.

The good news is Christ is still Lord, and there is nothing they can do about it.

Thank you so much Coconut for the essay and link. I'm not completely new to Christ, but am still drinking milk not solids: I'm learning.
I suppose that talkjesus may have mentioned these groups before. But, a dynamic website like TalkJesus will always need to remind fools like me of certain truths. (Well maybe not fool but certainly 'greenhorn' as you Americans put it). By the way I love America too!
I don't know how many people TalkJesus reaches, but even if it is only one, it is a valuable resource for our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are many scriptures that refer to the profaning of god's holy name,this might help but the true understanding is held in that ,you know them by their fruit, because the tares cant hide their thorns. the words Jesus spoke were not words but spiritual food,so be well feed because Americans have no excuse bibles are plentiful here and they die in other country's trying to smuggle one page of it in.
