In the Bible a person's name has much more to do with their authority, reputation, nature, or character than to do with what they were referred to as, which is why all of God's names reveal aspects of His authority, reputation, nature, or character. So someone who experientially knows the Son and what he has done, but who misspells or mispronounces his name nevertheless has a much better understanding of his name than the other way around. Parents who named their child "The Word of God" would not be giving them the name that is above all names because they have not done what the Son has done and do not have his authority. In Hebrews 1:3, the Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact image of His nature and the Word of God is His instructions for how to give glory to Him through acting in accordance with His nature.

Just as a Son is begotten of a Father, so too did God’s Word come forth from the bosom of the Father.

John 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

The Son is begotten of the Father, and not the other way around; therefore the Father is greater than the Son.


John 14:28
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
