Hello Idelle, please don't feel guilty. I know that's hard to do, as we all go through similar kinds of guilt for different sins, which we have committed, and are trying to overcome. In body, we will always sin, but the spirit can never sin, one needs to learn and walk in spirit, and that’s half the battle. The world is full of temptation. The more time we spend in God's presence, the less we will sin. We need to be a living sacrifice now.
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Spend more time in His presence and less time doing worldly things. I fall short, in this respect many a time. Just go and speak to Him, open up your heart to Him, tell him your concerns, worries, feelings of guilt, and that you are struggling with, and you really need His help. He wants to hear all this.
You can also open up to us and tell us, we are not here to judge you. We just try to help, edify and bring people back onto the right path again.
A person whom has been a Christian for 30 years, still needs that same help, guidance and strength from brothers and sisters in Christ, than say from a Christian who has only been saved for 1 year. We are here to help and strengthen you and others.
God’s power has been given to you, as it's been given to that pastor in your church. That pastor, has not been given any more of the holy spirit, than what God has given you. God treats His children equally, it's just that pastor has learnt how to operate that power. One only needs to know how to use that power, so that we can overcome all these temptations.
Jesus too was tempted like you and I. Look at the scripture below, it was only for a season, which means, the devil came back at some point and tempted Jesus' some more.
Luk 4:13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
Telling your family and friends of your sins, this is a struggle and can take time to start to open up. But if they are born again Christians, they will not judge you, they will help you, they are struggling with similar sins too, just remember that.
You know, I am only starting to get to know my own mother now, yes in a different way, she is 70, she's actually opening up and telling me what she has struggled with all these years, with sin I mean. But this can take time, don't be ashamed to open up and speak about sins. The world will judge you, but brothers and sister in Christ won't.
Jas 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Take care and God bless.
