What To Do When You Are Deserted By Loved Ones

And those who know your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalm 9:10

For the Lord will not cast off His people, Nor will He forsake His inheritance. Psalm 94:14

When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me. Psalm 27:10

Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. Matthew 28:20

Persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:9

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread. Psalm 37:25

Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. Isaiah 49:15, 16

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. Psalm 43:5

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name's sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people. 1 Samuel 12:22

Excellent verses and post. There's no comforter like the Lord and His precious Holy Spirit. He really is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

I sing in the car. I sing hymns, old ones, and contemporary Christian. Sometimes I just make up songs as I go along and put my own words of praise. They're not great songs, but they come from my heart. Today, I was driving and began singing to the Lord of How He is my Saviour, Redeemer,....and when I sang the word 'Friend' I started weeping because to think that Jesus the Lord is my friend!!!! It's beyond words and beyond my comprehension.

There IS NO OTHER like Jesus. He is Number #1 and will always be King no matter what.

Take comfort in Him when others turn aside or look away. Draw nigh to Him and He will draw nigh to you!

Thanks, rizen1, you are a gem!

Thank you soooo!!!! much for this post.

it speaks to my heart. Know that you will encourage many.

The only thing I could even think to add to your awesome list is too make sure you hold on tight to those precious and dear friends the good Lord has brought into our lives.

The Lord is my strength and He is also the one who has brought those around us who stay strong through the storms of life and are faithful even when we at first try to do things are own way.

Thanks again

I'm going through a hard time right now and findingthis thread has blessed my heart. People have turned away from me and it pains my heart. But it is awesome to know that Jesus will never turn away.

Hey Willie
Part of going through pain is having ones who care come around ya to share the load.
I know there are many of us who do care. I'm 54 now so now you know there still is life after 40..... lol!!!
All this to say we have had to go through many trials. When I think back to my 10th yr in marriage I had a heap of things hitting me. Might be able to help.

So put something on Prayer Requests or under Mens if ya want.
You can also communicate under private mail with any of us as well.

Take care Bro

Sometimes there just isn't one person that seems to care. Jesus himself experienced times when the disciples just didn't get it. He asked them to stay awake and pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. They fell asleep.

Soon after, Jesus was betrayed and Peter still didn't get it. Jesus didn't have any "friends" to rely on at that time. Sometimes God puts us in a position where there is no human being who can really help us. Even the Father turned His back on Jesus on the cross because God couldn't look upon the sin that Jesus carried on our behalf. One thing that God will never do is turn away from us. Only Jesus, God's only Son, had the Father to turn His face from him. Yet as imperfect sinners (but Christians:) ) God will not turn away from us! Hallelujah, praise be to our King.

A time of suffering or loved ones turning away is for a reason so that we will draw nigh to God Then, after we have suffered for awhile He will raise us back up and allow us to give that same compassion He gave---to others! God gives us friends, yes. But there may be a particular time in life when those friends/family just are not there.

Do not forget Job. His own wife told him to curse God and die. His 3 "friends" came and preached judgementally (and wrongfully!) to Job when Job was actually the one righteous before God. So how are we going to have a smoother life than Job if we follow God? Can we not have a time of testing and trial also for a period of life?

If one looks to Christian brothers and sisters first in every situation, then that Christian may not mature in the way that God had planned, because God is our Maker. He is the holder of all our plans! He is Master, not ourselves, our friends, or our mom or dad. Among many other Holy characteristics, God is a jealous God and desires for us to put Him first and foremost above all others.

Luke 14:26 - "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, and even his own life--he cannot be My disciple."

James 4:8a - "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you."

James 4:10 - "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you."

Romans 8:16,17 - "The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God's children, and if children, also heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus--seeing that we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him."

Matthew 26:36-40 - Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He told the disciples, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." Taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, "My soul is swallowed up in sorrow--to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with me."

Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, "My Father! If it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will."

Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He asked Peter, "So, couldn't you stay awake with Me one hour?"

:love:As my sister rizen1 also cited: :) Psalm 27:10 - "Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord cares for me." HSCB

about 7 years ago the love of my life found me. He was a wonderful man and we met on the computer. through ups and downs we grew closer and closer. we had to move right away and my family didnt like him much. he had to stay on the streets when he got there. i had kids and a place to stay but they wouldnt allow him to stay where i was. any way i had to tell my family that i was leavin him to ge them off my back but told him i loved him and had no attention of leavin him. i finaly got a job and we got a house and began our life togeather. over the years he has fallen away from God and after we moved to colorado he moved out and we had been living apart but still togeather as a couple. i suffer with depression but he became my best friend. valentines he broke up with me and truned his back on God. i didnt kknow it was comming it is still a shock to me and i am all messed up inside.
Now the deal is.. Many fleese have been put out concerning our relationship. and they have all come back that he and i are supposed to be togeather.. a man whom i believed God speaks to also told me that God wants this man and i togeather that there is no one else for me. Now if this man has found happiness by not following God.... What is the point??? and if God never changes then explain what has happened to me???? Someone help me cause i am so messed up right now i can bearly function...

I sent you a pm..but I'll share these verses.

Giving it to God trusting that his will be done.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. (Ps 55.22)

In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. (Ps 62.7)

The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. (Ps 145.18-19)

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Rom 8.28)

He gives us peace and comforts us.

(Jesus said:) "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14.27)

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters ... they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God" (Isaiah 43:1-3).

He listens our prayers

Those who know your name will trust in you, for you,
Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. ~ Psalm 9:10

Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love frm me! ~ Psalm 66:20

Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short
to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. ~ Isaiah 59:1

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone
who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks,
the door will be opened. ~ Matthew 7:7,8

This was hugely comforting to read. Its true that even our own mother may desert us, but to know that Jesus never will is wonderful and touches the soul! Further, to realise that our mother, father, friends, or ourselves, are not in charge of our destiny in Christ, but only God is Lord of our lives, is great confidence and encouragement for the heart.

I like the one for Isaiah 49, He has inscribed my name upon the palms of His hands....no wonder He knows us by names...thank God am still in His able hands, so that means am loved and secured in Him, no matter what happens. Thank you Lord for such security...eternal security.:smiling-animated:

Re:....Deserted by Loved Ones

Alcoholics Anonymous has taught me some major life lessons. One of them is that when I put high expectations on people, I'm setting myself up for disappointment. I love my wife of 40 years, she's a greaty lady; but, if I'd continued trying to put high expectations on her, those expectations, for the most part, would not have been met and I would have been miserable.

Many times I've heard words like "He idolized his wife" or "she idolized her husband" and the sad thing is that the word "idolized" was an accurate description because one spouse had made the other spouse #1. Exodus 20:3 tells us to not have any gods before the Lord. I believe that making a human being #1 in your life is a violation of that commandment and, thus, is adultery; a bad mistake all the way around.

"Though my mother and father forsake me, the Lord will receive me."
(Ps 27:10)
