whats more important how well we know Jesus or the bibl

whats more important how well we know the bible and scriptures.?

or how well we know Jesus?

That is an easy one. Accept Jesus, and listen to him above all things. Learn to run to him with all questions and all things that may concern you.

The scriptures are a part of Gods word, it is a whole package, but standing to one side and with full knowledge is Jesus. That is the one to know. He will show you many answers and guide you with the scriptures, if you allow him too.

my answer to someone below.on worthy christians forum, just adding it here. also.

your statement is not true, you keep mentioning scripture, i believe in scripture, im very fortune i can read, and know scripture, i can quote scripture all day long, though im not answering machine.nor do i want to sound like one.
you were getting a bit boaring in the can vultures, buzzards, turkeys, ducks, become Eagles debate, in the prophecy, debate, you do not seem to be able to think out of the box?
Apart from the guy who mentioned cows to burgers, in his post, that was so funny, realy hit the spot, loved it!

Less look at it another way, someone will know this on the forum, how long was the Bible in Hebrew, Greek, then Latin.
All the people , the marjority could not read or write. certainly millions did not know or could not speak latin, if its all about scripture, and not relation ship,
what was the fate of millons of people who lived during this time. did no one know Jesus,? except a few people who could read and speak latin?
how many people did the catholic church put to death, who had the bible, in the name of God,
how many prosedants and catholics have killed each other, even when the bible had been translated, and both knew the bible.
Jesus tolled his followers, a day would come, when they would be put to death, by people thinking they were doing Gods will, because they did not know him, Jesus or the father.
faith with out works is dead, the word with out the spirit is dead, the letter of the law.
the woman caught in adultry, why did Jesus not insist she be stoned, thats what scripture, the Law demanded?
will we be judged on how well we know the bible, or how much we love Jesus and serve him?
and do the will of our father.?

Be careful with that scripture stuff. A great many of them are not Gods way. They are mans traditions, mans laws, and man can very well with all good intentions be totally wrong.

A much better solution is to learn and know what God, Jesus, one and the same actually mean. Follow that, and the rest takes care of itself. You discover this by reading the entire bible, and the scriptures and then just simply asking God to give you understanding of it all.

Kindness, forgiveness, respect, love, understanding, those are the way of Jesus.

A simple example of a scripture would be that if a man works on the sabbath he should be put to death. That is mans law, not the law of Jesus as he healed the sick on the sabbath and saw no problem with fishing a goat out of a well on Sunday.

So it is well to know jesus. The rest will take care of itself.

Honestly you should know both JESUS and the Bible the more you know of the Bible the better you can be to Model yourself after JESUS and improve your life, Then on the other Hand once you know more of the Bible you also know more about GOD JESUS and the whole of the heavenly realms But most importantly is to know JESUS When you get confused on certain passages ask GOD to help you understand better that way you get both and can understand Holy!

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

WE Must follow our LORD!
We must not follow mankind!

Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

I was once tricked by my own thinking! I once followed a pastor! GOD asked me . I was going to follow HIM or that pastor ?

I said , YOU LORD! He said, DO IT THEN . He was very upset with me! I was very fearful!

Our relationship with our FATHER GOD , though JESUS CHRIST is ONE on ONE , A father with HIS child forever more!

But to follow JESUS is to also Learn JESUS and if you realize or not you can learn our Father from reading His word (Bible) so in all fairness there should be no exceptions you have to know the word as well sa know the Father

I thank GOD for the bible!
Still , GOD gave us the Spirit of truth!
He knows all truth and can teach us! Even has HE revealed these trues in the bible to those who wrote it!

GOD saw all this that would take place on the earth. So He gave each child a part of HIMSELF to be taught by , and l;ed and that the Holy Spirit could reveal things we need to know and the future also and heavenly gifts That He gives us!

We have everything in our new Spirit, We will ever need to be more than conquerors!

The more we walk and live though our new spirit ?
The more perfectly we will serve our LORD!

Make absolutely sure you meet Jesus. I do not refer to an intellectual meeting, or an emotional meeting. These can be the beginning..... when folks are sincere.

A Damascus road meeting. Acts 9:3 A lifechanging meeting with Jesus. It may not be as dramatic as the Apostles....but a revolutionary meeting....none the less.

Do not rest...would be my counsel, until you know you have met Him.......no matter what it may take. Many settle for less....for the routine......for the ceremony.....for the fellowship......all these are excellent, and I also am blessed by such. But the blessing comes to me because I have met Him, first and foremost and have known his life changing power.

I have advised people to read the book....read the gospel of John. Whatever is needful to lead people to Jesus.

For me, I can't truly know Jesus with my own thoughts or ideas. They are flesh and can tell lies.

The only Truth that I have...we all have...about Jesus is found in the Bible, the Word of God!

For these questions, I believe you have to know Jesus to know the Bible and you need to know the Bible in order to know the Truth of Jesus.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

the two cannot be seperated - The plainest reason why the Son of God is called the Word, seems to be, that as our words explain our minds to others, so was the Son of God sent in order to reveal his Father's mind to the world. What the evangelist says of Christ proves that he is God. He asserts, His existence in the beginning; His coexistence with the Father. The Word was with God.

without the word we would not know Jesus and without Jesus we would not have the word

thank you God

John 16:12&13 "Oh, there is so much more I want to tell you, but you can't bear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not be presenting his own ideas; he will be telling you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

The scripture you quoted from John's gospel is not referring or relating to the scriptures but you are right in saying that the Word is Jesus the Christ. Many seem to get the two confused.

1Cr 12:3 So I want you to know how to discern what is truly from God: No one speaking by the Spirit of God can curse Jesus, and no one is able to say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

Standing to one side and with full knowledge is Jesus.

ALL glory to the Son of God!

The scripture is profitable for many things [2Ti 3:16] but the scripture cannot give men life. Thus in rank of importance, writings, not even the most sacred God inspired writings, can do a dead man any good. You must be born of the Spirit.

1Jn 5:7 For there are three that testify: [note the scripture is not listed]
1Jn 5:8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.
1Jn 5:9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son.
1Jn 5:10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son.
1Jn 5:11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jn 5:12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

"The devil is a better theologian than any of us and is a devil still."

--Aiden Wilson Tozer (1897-1963)_Man, the Dwelling Place of God_

Jesus told the Jews: "You are searching the Scriptures, because you think that by means of them you will have everlasting life; and these are the very ones that bear witness about me."(John 5:39) Just before his resurrection to heaven, he said to Cleopas and his friend, that " these are my words which I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all the things written in the law of Moses and in the Prophets and Psalms about me must be fulfilled.” The account in Luke now says that "then he opened up their minds fully to grasp the meaning of the Scriptures."(Luke 24:44, 45)

Thus, only by closely examining the Bible, the holy Scriptures, can anyone come to know who Jesus is. The apostle Paul wrote to the Romans that "God’s good news, which he promised aforetime through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who sprang from the seed of David according to the flesh."(Rom 1:1-3)

Without the Bible, how can anyone "realize the comprehension....in the sacred secret of the Christ" ?(Eph 3:4) Paul further says that "I should declare to the nations the good news about the unfathomable riches of the Christ and should make men see how the sacred secret is administered which has from the indefinite past been hidden in God."(Eph 3:8, 9)

Can the "sacred secret of the Christ" be grasped without a close examination of the Bible ? How would one come "to an accurate knowledge of the sacred secret of God, namely, Christ", so that this one can understand how "carefully concealed in him are all the treasures of wisdom and of knowledge "(Col 2:2, 3), without carefully giving scrutiny to the Bible ?

How can a person apply what Paul wrote, that "God may open a door of utterance to us, to speak the sacred secret about the Christ" if, in fact, we have only a transitory or surface grasp of Jesus and his role in God's "eternal purpose that he formed in connection with the Christ, Jesus our Lord " ?(Eph 3:11) Without understanding the Bible, "the sacred secret of God, namely, Christ" will remain just that, a secret.

For example, without giving consideration to such prophetic statements as at Isaiah 53, that foretells the Messiah's appearance, can an individual begin to understand who the Christ really is ? The writers of the Christian Greek Scriptures (commonly called the New Testament), by means of God's holy spirit, explained who the Christ is, using the Hebrew Scriptures (commonly called the Old Testament) as a foundation.

God’s purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ remained a “sacred secret [or, mystery] . . . kept in silence for long-lasting times.” (Rom 16:25-27) For over 4,000 years, since the rebellion in Eden, men of faith had awaited the fulfillment of God’s promise of a “seed” to bruise the head of the serpentlike Adversary and thereby to bring relief to mankind. (Gen 3:15)

For nearly 2,000 years they had hoped in God’s covenant with Abraham for a “seed” who would “take possession of the gate of his enemies” and by means of whom all nations of the earth would bless themselves.(Gen 22:15-18; Gal 3:14) How could the role of Jesus Christ in this arrangement be known without assiduously studying the Bible ?
