The Lord has been taking me through a trial right now with bed bugs. I never had bed bugs before. I didn’t think I would ever get them, either. Yet, through this trial the Lord has been rearranging my priorities, and has been purifying my heart to make me more like Jesus.

He, as well, has been teaching me to rest in him through this. We have had the bugs nearly 2 weeks now (10/17/16), but the Lord has not yet seen fit to deliver us from them. Instead, he has been encouraging me to find my strength in him, to rest in him, to not fret, and to let him work in my life what he wants to do for the praise of his glory, and for my good.

This morning (10/18/16), when we woke up, there was a brown recluse (poisonous) spider on our kitchen sink. Yesterday I saw a flea on my desk, and my husband found a dead tick on our bathroom floor. I feel like there is a bug convention going on here right now. I believe I am being tested, and that the Lord is preparing me for even greater trials yet to come. In all things, I am learning more and more to rest in Jesus, and to not be afraid, no matter what may come my way. All glory to God!

When I Am Afraid / An Original Work
October 17, 2016 / Based off Psalms 56-57

When I am afraid, Lord, I will trust in You.
Your Word, Lord, I praise. I yield my life to You.
Enemies pursue me, slandering Your Name.
Lord, have mercy. I trust in You. Hear my cry today.

Lord, I love Your Word. It comforts me today,
As I look to you, and bow my head and pray.
You are Christ, my Lord. You saved me from my sin,
That I may walk, Lord before You, purified within.

Steadfast is my heart, O God, I sing of You.
I will praise You, Lord. To You, I will be true.
Oh, how great Your love. Your faithfulness endue.
Be exalted, God of heaven. Glory be to You.

Reminding you perhaps of the "-ites" to be driven out by God:

"And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites." Joshua 3:10

Then see the six, no seven things abominable to God:

"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." Prov 6:16-19

I am praying that God help you drive out all of your "-ites".

Thank you @amadeus2. I appreciate your prayers and your counsel. The Lord has been teaching me much through this 3 week long trial, which is not yet over. Today, when I woke up, he placed this old hymn in my mind:

Jesus, I am Resting, Resting / Jean Sophia Pigott / 1845-1882

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belovèd,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ‘neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

The words of the song were unknown to me, but they do speak a clear message:

We do need to rest. Sometimes we do not realize that resting in Him is where we must always be even when our bodies may be very active in assorted work and responsibilities and even play.

"Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass." Psalm 37:7

Thank you! So true!
