Yoga And The Bible ! Yoga Vs Prayer !
Neither Jesus nor the Apostles nor the Prophets mentioned or practiced yoga.
The Bible speaks about meditation, prayer and thanksgiving.
The gospels say Jesus always prayed.Paul said,”Pray without ceasing.”
Is there any advantage in doing yoga? Why the church fathers didn’t advocate yoga to the early Chrisitians? Why is not the yoga mentioned in any of their writings? The Bible seem to be totally ignorant or negligent about the practice of yoga. But the Bible gives utmost importance to different kinds of prayers-like the prayer of faith, fervent prayer, prayer without ceasing etc.”Mother Teresa spoke about storming the heaven with prayers.”
Many Christians turning to yoga is a sign of abandoning faith in the last days.
It is after speaking about prayer,[Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart-The parable of the widow and the judge]Luke;18;1-8, the Lord Jesus said,” Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" Luke;18;8 It looks like the Son of Man will find yoga on earth when he returns.Substitutinng yoga for prayer is going in that dirction. It happened just like this, "The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness' sake; He will exalt the law and make it honorable. But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, And they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, "Restore!" Isaiah;42;21,22
Yoga may be easy to practice, easier than physical exercise. But prevailing prayer doesn’t come easily.Repetitive prayer is easy to say but not effective as other prayers
in the Bible.Fasting is another method to make prayers more effective.Yoga is something like ‘make yourself feel better ‘kind of thing,But prayer connects with heaven. One great man of God said like this, "Prayer is the first thing, prayer is the second thing and prayer is the third thing."
"The best of them is like a brier; The most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge."Micah;7:4
