"Where are you, God? Why don't you answer my prayers?"
"Where are you, God? Why don't you answer my prayers?" Have you ever said those words? Ever wondered just where God is and why He doesn't seem to answer your prayers? Well, these are questions that no one can really answer, but what if you could begin to understand some of the dynamics that affect your prayers? We know that God hears and answers our prayers, but why don't we always get the answers we want when we want them? Perhaps it's a bit more complicated than we think. Just think about all the variables affecting prayer.
In fact, I think it's worth the time to take a look at some of the variables that Scripture says can affect our prayers. Doing so may increase our passion to pray and not lose heart as we learn to pray with maximum effectiveness. For example, every believer must accept the fact that our prayers are subject to the sovereign will of God. I know that sounds basic, but it's important. Jesus Christ, as our model, prayed to His Father saying, "If it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not as I will, but as You will."
Matthew 26:39 (NIV)
James, the brother of Jesus, warned us that if we prayed with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures, then our prayers would go unanswered. James 4:3
And it was John the beloved disciple who said, "If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." 1 John 5:14(NIV)
So let's all remember to pray boldly, without ceasing, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) and in accordance with His Eternal Sovereign Plan. God be with you all...
