Who can tell?

Jon 3:9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

Jon 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
When confronted with the question, “when does the sin stop”? Those under the strong delusion usually come up with many excuses why they don’t have to stop their willful rebellion to God and seek the mercy of God in sack cloth and ashes!
The process is and always will be:
1, Hear the word of God, by yielding to its convicting power!
2, Act upon it with great fear and trembling!
3, If acted upon godly sorrow for sin will follow, where a crisis of conviction will penetrate deep into the heart, causing the sin to stop!
4, Then the broken sinner will humbly come before God, not assuming anything, hoping He will turn from the doom He pronounced upon those who refuse to repent and seek His mercy!
5, IF the repentance is real, then the sin stops, and heart purity follows, as God looks deep into the heart and soul to see if it’s real, and genuine, and if it is, He then has a choice to not pour His wrath and anger out on the truly repentant soul.
Now the whole city of Nineveh is a great reminder and warning from God what He requires of His creation, when He sends His messengers and prophets to warn the wicked to repent or perish!
Joe 2:12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
Joe 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
Joe 2:14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?
The act of repentance didn’t save the people of Nineveh, but their obedience to the truth and convicting power of the Holy Spirit, prepared their hearts before God, to come to Him on His terms, now savable, broken in spirit, humble and contrite, proving to God they mean business, where lip service wont due, but life service, now ready to receive with meekness His implanted word, filled with His spirit, cleansed and purged from their wicked and vile hearts and minds!
