Just as God sent forth fiery serpents and scorpions to torment and kill the rebellious children of Israel in the wilderness. In the book of Revelation chapter 9 we see a swarm of evil spirits coming out of the bottomless pit to torment mankind; that is all those who are not sealed by God’s Holy Spirit. But who let the evil spirits out?
Well if back up to Revelation 9:1 we see a star fall from heaven, and unto him was given the key to the bottomless pit. There may be some debate as to who that star/angel is, but notice this angel was “given the key” to the bottomless pit, or hell. So where did this angel get the key? The answer is right here in Revelation 1:18 “ I am he that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have “the keys of hell and of death”.
So just as God sent forth fiery serpents and scorpions to bite and kill the rebellious children of Israel in the wilderness, the same (in a spiritual sense) would happen again to the wicked and rebellious children of the world; who do not have the “seal” of God’s Holy Spirit.
