Your house is on fire and you can only save one person. Do you save your wife/husband, or your child? They are both trapped and who ever you don't save will die.

Yesterday the proud family man paid the ultimate price for his loyalty, dying as he bravely fought to save his wife and daughter from their burning family home.
Tony and his 10-year-old daughter, Brittany, died in a fire that broke out in his Sorrento property about 7 o'clock yesterday morning.
Family members said his wife of almost 20 years, Kylie, woke to discover their TV room's curtain on fire and daughter Brittany standing nearby.
As smoke billowed throughout the home, it is believed Tony and Kylie struggled to get their daughter to safety.
Tony then smashed the room's window and dragged Kylie, who was severely affected by smoke, out the broken window. In the confusion, the couple lost sight of Brittany.
Kylie told family members she remembers Tony then passing out, presumably from smoke inhalation.
Tony's brother, John, told the Herald Sun: "Kylie said that (Tony) passed out, but then got back up again and ran around the other side (to look for Brittany) and that was the last she saw of him. She never got to see him again."
Tony was later dragged from the home, with paramedics working for almost an hour to resuscitate him.
He died at the scene while Brittany was found in the kitchen area of the house........

apologies for having offended some of you, that was definitely not the intention. just wanted to know if the bible had anything to say in this regards (of choosing spouse over kin or vice-versa).

Sure it's a tough choice, but the bottom line is God is in control. You try your best and he'll take care of the rest!
You know for God death is not as big a deal as it is for us humans. If your wife and child are Saved, then when they die they will be going to be with Jesus in paradise, and that is very comforting.
What would be so much more painful is if your wife or child died while they were back slidden or had fallen away from God. Then you would not have the comfort of knowing that they were going to a better place. That would be the most distressing thing I could think of, someone close to you dying before they were right with the Lord.
I think a lot of mourning has to do with us being separated from the person we love rather than actually feeling sorry for the person who has died. As Christians we should be able to handle death better than anybody, with the knowledge that God has a plan and things are not out of his control, even though they might be out of ours.
Peace. Beans
I once read this same question elsewhere, but it also included "save your parent" with the other 2 choices.
First, I would make sure I was safe, and had some means of helping them. Everything else is based upon the exact situation. I would call 911 first off. Then see which person(s) had the greatest chance of being saved by me before the frie department gets there. No point in making a galant romantic effort to go into situation where I am likely to die, so pick where the best chance is. I would also yell to anyone who could hear the basis like :"don't break the window, it will make the fire worse:", and "stay down close to the floor with something covering your nose and mouth to avoid poison fumes.
