Lately I have noticed increasingly that people are using the name of Christ or God in a cursing way. Maybe it's always been going on but lately I feel it increasing more around me. Its everywhere, in public, the workplace, magazines, and especially on TV & Films.
Everytime something unfortunate or undesirable annoys the individual, he uses the name of Jesus Christ in exactly the same context of "oh for F*** sake". Each time I hear it, it feels so wrong. To the point I may almost flip the channel because of the curse or stand up and say to someone "don't use the Lords name in vain", though i'm never quite brave enough to say it out loud, especially in the workplace. But I feel I should as God despises cowardice and maybe I should just speak out sometimes but I also feel I should avoid conflict with such people.
Is it just me or is there an increase in the use of the Lord's name in vain in today's society? Is there a symbolic meaning behind it perhaps? It's funny how non believers and even Atheists subconsciously utter the Lord's name, even if it is in vanity.
