Why so much cursing against God these days?

Lately I have noticed increasingly that people are using the name of Christ or God in a cursing way. Maybe it's always been going on but lately I feel it increasing more around me. Its everywhere, in public, the workplace, magazines, and especially on TV & Films.

Everytime something unfortunate or undesirable annoys the individual, he uses the name of Jesus Christ in exactly the same context of "oh for F*** sake". Each time I hear it, it feels so wrong. To the point I may almost flip the channel because of the curse or stand up and say to someone "don't use the Lords name in vain", though i'm never quite brave enough to say it out loud, especially in the workplace. But I feel I should as God despises cowardice and maybe I should just speak out sometimes but I also feel I should avoid conflict with such people.

Is it just me or is there an increase in the use of the Lord's name in vain in today's society? Is there a symbolic meaning behind it perhaps? It's funny how non believers and even Atheists subconsciously utter the Lord's name, even if it is in vanity.

Exod 20:7 “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain. - NASB

Exod20:7“Never use the name of the Lord your God carelessly. The Lord will make sure that anyone who carelessly uses his name will be punished. - GWT

I have often-ed wondered at God views those are constantly saying "OMG" and "Oh Jeez".
I have said these phrases myself in the past. However I consciously am trying to avoid doing so now.
I agree, it seems like the world is almost trying to turn Jesus into a curse word. Whenever certain people at my work are angry, the expression of choice is "Jesus H. F***ing Christ".
I have asked them why out of all the names in the world they could choose, why they choose his name, do they think he can make a difference? I have yet to get an answer.

Hmmm..... that is interesting.
Here in the U.S., I don't think I've ever heard anyone use Allah, or Mohammed, Buddha, Shiva, Vishnu, etc.... in a specific curse.

I guess in a weird kind of way, this validates Christianity to me.

I've often wondered the same thing... Why don't folks use the other deities' names in vain, and instead focus only on Jesus, if they're all make believe to them?

Same deal as to why they try to discredit the bible and Christianity more than other faiths. Because something in them, desperately doesn't want to believe, and have to be accountable to a God.

Food for thought, certainly.

I did a post with an atheist in another thread, where I discussed at length BAC'S point about other deities not been cursed.

A quick and simplified explanation is : Mankind will consistently and exclusively use Jesus' name in vain because :

1. non-Christian mankind is controlled by Satan
2. who knows who Jesus is and that He is the only God
3. And as such, Satan, working through his people, wouldn't waste his curses and hatred on a false god.
