Two dying criminals hung from wooden crosses, one on either side of Jesus. They had both joined in the hateful mocks and jeers of the crowd gathered to witness Jesus’ crucifixion. Until…
We don’t know what these two malefactors had done to earn their terrible fate that day. But the Bible tells us that one of these recognized two things: hat he deserved the punishment he was suffering that day and that he was in the presence of his only hope for something better on the other side of the grave. “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom,” he begged. Then came Jesus’ response: “Today you shall be with Me in paradise.”
Consider the word Jesus used for His eternal kingdom that day: paradise. Then think about this: if Jesus, the Son of God, who was there when God created the entire universe, called that place paradise, then the place that is now the eternal home to the penitent criminal must be far greater, far more beautiful, than anything we can dare imagine.
And that same place will be your eternal home too!
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for reserving for me a place with You in paradise.
