Witnessing??

I really wasnt too sure where to post this, but I was wondering about witnessing.

I know that its recommended to witness and to share our faith, but what methods are out there?
I have really felt the need to share my faith with non-belivers--but have no idea where to start! If I ignore this nudge/urge to witness, I feel like I am not serving God as best as I can.

Does anyone have any suggestions/storys about effective witnessing?

That nudge you feel is the Holy Spirit. Do not ignore Him. Just do the simple thing of witnessing to others as He guides you. He will do the talking per se. You are His tool, He is the Truth, the Witness of Christ.

Now the below Scripture is not about witnessing to others, but an example of how the Spirit guides you at the very moment when needed.

Luke 12:11-13

11 “Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. 12 For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

Hello rose. Here is a passage out of 1 Corinthians 2 where Paul reminds them about how he originaly witnessed to them when he was first amoung them. In the light of Chad's verse above, I think it is interesting and I hope helpful.

1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Remembering what Paul had said to the Romans about the gospel he preached, we can take comfort and rest in the fact that it is not us but God who does the convicting: v1:14-16 "I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

This is the promice concirning the Holy Spirit's work in gospel witnessing: John 16:7-11:
"7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged."

Thank you for you're advice Chad, Dice

I especially liked 1 Corinthians 2. I would have never guessed that Paul would talk about how he wasnt excellent in speech or wisdom. And that God does the convicting.
Its really great to know that God helps out. That it takes my initial effort, then he does all the cool supernatural stuff-like convicting.

And I guess it takes practise too!

I would really really reccommend using the Law, God's ten commandments. I have been doing it this way and it is phonomonal. Basically it breaks down like this. You ask a person if they think they are a good person, they will almost always say yes. Then you take them through a couple of the ten commandments, like have you ever lied, stolen, looked with lust (which is adultry) once they have admitted to doing all these things, which they almost certainly will, you gently and loving tell them, "So by your own admission, your a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart, and you have to face God on judgement day, do you think you will be innocent or guilty? Do you think you would go to heaven or hell?

One of the main reasons I love this method is it is 100% Biblical. The apostal Paul said "I had not known sin, but by the law" Once you know what sin is, you realize your need of a savior. You need to show the sinner that the wrath of God abides on him and it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. They need to know that they have offended God, and are in dire need of a savior. They then need to repent of their sins, and trust in God for their salvation.

This method is the best, It's the only way I can think of witnessing!
