Chad, that is absolutely startling and beautiful. It gets to the heart of the matter in a way that transcends time. I listened attentively and tears came to my eyes at the love of Jesus being described so succinctly. God IS Awesome!

This really touches the heart and makes me feel how full of joy this woman was, to get to know Jesus. Its amazing the mark He leaves on us all, and though he was around for a short time, we remember Him and are so full of joy even now, years later.

I'm told that women usually went to the well in the early morning, at the beginning of the day's activities. This woman went in the middle of the day (the sixth hour), probably to avoid being the butt of other women's insults.

What a turn-around she experienced! When she met Jesus, her self esteem issues melted away. She went back to town quickly, leaving her water jar behind (see Jn 4:28), and began collaring every person she could find to tell them about Him.
