John 21 v 4-6
Early the next morning Jesus stood on the shore, but the followers did not know it was Jesus. Then he said to them, "Friends, did you catch any fish?"
They answered, "No."
He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they did, and they caught so many fish they could not pull the net back into the boat.
I don't know about you, but sometimes I find it so hard to be obedient to what I am meant to be doing. About 4 years ago, I lost my job, I was made redundant, and I tried and tried to find other jobs anywhere throughout the country. Everywhere I went people told me that I was a great youth worker, I had a real heart for young people, and had a great vision for working with them, but yet they didn't want me. I could not understand this if they thought so highly of me, why didn't they want to employ me?
Then two things happened, my wife suggested that maybe we were to stay where we were, and I was to continue working with young people there. The next day, I was told by my employers that I could write and thank people who had supported the work, and tell them what I was doing next. So I wrote and told them I was staying and believed I should continue working with young people in the area. For a month after this we received letters and phone calls every day from people wanting to support what we were doing.
Obedience doesn't come easy to me, but I am learning and learning quickly, the more I listen to God, and do what he suggests, things start to work out a bit better.
Dear God, please help me to remain obedient to your call, and follow the direction you have planned for me. Amen.
