John 14 v 18-21
"I will not leave you all alone like orphans; I will come back to you. In a little while the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live, too. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and that you are in me and I am in you. Those who know my commands and obey them are the ones who love me, and my Father will love those who love me. I will love them and will show myself to them."
In a world where commitment is demonstrated less and less, how refreshing it is, and challenging to hear these words of Jesus that he will always be with us.
I remember standing at the end of the isle as Emma, my fiancée, walked down towards me on our wedding day. Thinking to myself, "Wow this woman has chosen me, above any other man that she could possibly have been with, she chose me". What a feeling that gave me, what a sense of worth, value, and also wanting to be with her.
How much more is this true with our relationship with God, he wants to be with us, to have that relationship with us, and wants us to be in the closeness of that relationship with him. How much are we prepared to commit ourselves to God?
Dear God, thank you for your commitment to me, and the fact that you want to be with me. Lord I want to commit myself to you, and be in the closeness of that relationship with you.
