2 Corinthians 5:16-21
From this time on we do not think of anyone as the world does. In the past we thought of Christ as the world thinks, but we no longer think of him in that way. If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new! All this is from God. Through Christ, God made peace between us and himself, and God gave us the work of telling everyone about the peace we can have with him. God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself. In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of its sins. And he gave us this message of peace. So we have been sent to speak for Christ. It is as if God is calling to you through us. We speak for Christ when we beg you to be at peace with God. Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could become right with God.
The Personnel Journal reported this incredible statistic: since the beginning of recorded history, the entire world has been at peace less than eight percent of the time! In its study, the periodical discovered that of 3530 years of recorded history, only 286 years saw peace. In excess of 8000 peace treaties were made--and broken.
The cross is God's peace treaty. He signed it in blood and this is a guarantee that he will never break it. The amazing thing is that he did not wait till there was a cease fire. Whilst we were still his enemies Christ died for us. Though we declared war on him he has come to us and walked unarmed into enemy territory to sue for peace.
What does this peace mean for us? It means that there is now no barrier between you and God; and you can experience his friendship. The peace that Jesus gives is not the absence of trouble, but is rather the confidence that He is there with you always.
He also makes us his ambassadors on this peace mission. We have the privilege of telling others about this peace. God wants to use you to speak to others. Today will you tell people that God wants to become their friend- that they can experience peace with God?
Pray for places in the world where peace is badly needed.
Pray for people you know who need to find God's peace
Pray that God's peace that passes all understanding would guard your heart and mind today
