A week of Lent Reflections taken from "Hope in Word, Hope in Action" - storiesofhope.org.uk
Word on the Web
Hope is... being there for everyone
We are therefore Christ's Ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. 2 Corinthians 5:20
My challenge in ministry
The Unit is full in your face, especially in a large shopping precinct during a "24/7 prayer week". At 6am I encounter Bill, living rough in the Gents' toilet, hoping for a warm drink and a friendly face. Later, shop-keepers open up, school children pass by, and young mums meet up for a coffee. A lady steps onto the Unit - her husband has had a heart-attack. Four days later she returns, smiling with thanks for the prayers that led to his recovery. In the evening people ask what this is 'all about', before hurrying on to restaurants and pubs. After midnight the Unit provides a quiet atmosphere for those who are the worse for drink.
A reflection for Lent
I am often asked how many people I have bought to Christ? How fruitful is the "Wheels Ministry"? I do not have a book of statistics. What I do have is a natural and warm approach to people, and a heart to go wherever God leads me, knowing that I have something worthwhile to share. I sow seeds and watch people's lives change. I see hope grow from despair, happiness from sadness, love from bitterness, and broken relationships healed and restored.
Father God, thank you for your goodness and provision. Help me to be the person of your desire, to be obedient to your will, and to trust in you. Give me courage and boldness and a servant heart. Amen.
