Word on the Web

Micah 6 v 8

The Lord has told you, human, what is good; he has told you what he wants from you: to do what is right to other people, love being kind to others, and live humbly, obeying your God.

You can't open a newspaper these days without coming across an article about climate change. It seems everyone is "greening" their lifestyle, even old ladies at bus stops are discussing their carbon footprints. God's creation was entrusted to us to look after but it appears that we're not doing a very good job. We might think that this has no immediate effect on our lives, but it's already having an impact on the lives of people in developing countries. Climate change is a justice issue and that's why Christian Aid is campaigning on climate change.

In the West our consumption knows no bounds. In the UK, the average person will munch 10,000 chocolate bars, use 4,239 toilet rolls, and produce 40 tonnes of rubbish in their lifetime. They will also wear £30,222-worth of clothes (unless you're a major celebrity or footballers wife and that is more like your monthly budget!). All in all each person will produce 737 tonnes of CO2 in their life. We are doing the most damage to our climate while people in poorer countries are suffering the results first and worst. With homes and agriculture destroyed by extreme weather conditions, increased disease and displacement, global warming could be the greatest obstacle to ending poverty that the world has ever seen.

Dear God, I pray for those who are living in difficult and dangerous circumstances as a result of climate change - please protect them. Help me to make decisions in my life that do not bring harm to others, and help organisations like Christian Aid in their work to relieve the effects of climate change. Amen.

Yep, the weather is changing drastically, have been allot of strange earthquakes and volcanoes becoming active. Though, carbon emissions are a contributing factor, it is more from the sun heating up. Scientists are discovering climate change on the other planets of the solar system. The polar ice caps on Mars are melting, new storms are appearing on Jupiter and Neptune that have been absent for decades. Pluto has risen 2 degrees as well.

You can do a search for climate change on other planets and find info about this.

Isaiah 30:26
26.Moreover the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD binds up the bruise of His people and heals the stroke of their wound.

It is the Lord God telling mankind to repent. Creation is going through birth pangs, and it will intensify as we draw nearer to the return of Jesus.
