John 14 v 22-26
Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you plan to show yourself to us and not to the rest of the world?"
Jesus answered, "If people love me, they will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Those who do not love me do not obey my teaching. This teaching that you hear is not really mine; it is from my Father, who sent me.
"I have told you all these things while I am with you. But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name.
Have you ever been in a relationship where you just feel that you have to keep on proving your love to the other person? No matter what you do or say, they just want more, because they struggle to accept and believe what you tell them.
Jesus points out to Judas, that in essence all that he has said, all that he has done, is enough to demonstrate the Father to people, and it is now down to people to accept the Father. Jesus was basically pointing out that there was nothing else he could say or do that was going to convince people, or make any difference in their lives. All the teaching was there, all the miracles would be recorded, and all we have to do is accept them.
Jesus left the Spirit behind to enable people to write down all the things he had taught, and all the miracles that they had seen, so that people could then make up their own minds.
Are we prepared to accept what is written, all the accounts given of the life of Jesus?
Dear God, thank you for all the accounts that exist and enable me to come close to you. Thank you for demonstrating your love through your son Jesus Christ, and may I also leave my account of my relationship with you.
