Psalm 69 v 1-5
God, save me, because the water has risen to my neck.
I'm sinking down into the mud, and there is nothing to stand on.
I am in deep water, and the flood covers me.
I am tired from calling for help; my throat is sore.
My eyes are tired from waiting for God to help me.
There are more people who hate me for no reason than hairs on my head; powerful enemies want to destroy me for no reason.
They make me pay back what I did not steal. God, you know what I have done wrong; I cannot hide my guilt from you.
We all have days when we are totally overwhelmed by our circumstances everything is against us and feel that nothing will ever be right again. We are tired and feel that no help is available to us, which then makes us totally ineffective to deal with anything.
It is a hard lesson to learn, that we need to hand our problems over to God, and then wait on his timing and keep a positive attitude while we wait.
We live in a very difficult world where people will blame others, and wrongly take the credit for the efforts of others in order to make themselves look good. There is a distinct lack of personal accountability and realization that with freedom comes responsibility. Our God is a mighty all powerful, all knowing, all seeing Father who too readily understands the frailty of the human condition. Nothing can be hidden from him.
We all have to cope with situations that are unfair. When we hand these situations over to God, he is more than able to turn round these circumstances for our good. Which in turn then gives us the experience to help others facing similar situations, and be a help and a blessing to them.
As Christians we are bound to face opposition because as the Bible says we are salt and light. We need to press onward regardless of our circumstances, and have the faith to believe that all will be well, even though at this point in time we cannot see it. We have a loving Father who wants only what is best for us. His wisdom is beyond our comprehension. Nothing can be hidden from him, we are accountable to him.
Father I thank you that you are there for me in all circumstances. Help me to face all things with a good attitude while I wait on your answer to prayer. Help me to understand that trusting you and waiting on you is my best way forward. Amen
