Psalm 69 v 6-12

Lord GOD All-Powerful, do not let those who hope in you be ashamed because of me. God of Israel, do not let your worshipers be disgraced because of me.

For you, I carry this shame, and my face is covered with disgrace.
I am like a stranger to my closest relatives and a foreigner to my mother's children.

My strong love for your Temple completely controls me. When people insult you, it hurts me.
When I cry and go without food, they make fun of me.
When I wear clothes of sadness, they joke about me.
They make fun of me in public places, and the drunkards make up songs about me.

We live in a society where it is so important to fit in, to conform and be a part of the crowd. We are far too concerned with what others think of us yet the reality is that it is God's opinion alone that should matter. We need to be kind to ourselves and realize that God created us as unique individuals that are all special to him.

God does not make rubbish, we all have the potential to go about God's family business, being the mighty men and women of God doing the tasks that God alone sets for us to do. We need to focus on our relationship with our loving heavenly Father, and allow the holy spirit to work with us and through us so that we achieve according to his purpose and plan. We are all works in progress being refined as we go on our journey of life.

God does not want us to carry a spirit of fear and shame for that renders us ineffective in his kingdom.

People are very quick to pass judgement, mock, criticise and gossip about others, these are not the ways of our Heavenly Father. We as individuals too readily take on the negative opinions of others. Constructive correction when we do wrong is what is needed, not ridicule and scorn.

Father I ask in Jesus name to be all that you intend me to be. HELP ME TO DO YOUR WILL not mine, and to be a blessing in your kingdom as I go through on the journey of life. Help me to understand your word and relate it to my life so that I may be effective for you. Take away fear and shame and fill me with your love, peace and joy and keep me in your grace and favour. Thank you Father. Amen
