Philippians 2 v 19-24
I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon. I will be happy to learn how you are. I have no one else like Timothy, who truly cares for you. Other people are interested only in their own lives, not in the work of Jesus Christ. You know the kind of person Timothy is. You know he has served with me in telling the Good News, as a son serves his father. I plan to send him to you quickly when I know what will happen to me. I am sure that the Lord will help me to come to you soon.
It is a good thing to be trusted by someone who you revered. It is hard to find such persons in the world today, but as Christians we should always be trusted. Paul knew that he could depend on his trusted friend Timothy to do a good job with the Philippians and bring him back the kind of news that he would be delighted to hear. Can you be trusted in the world that has gone crazy today? Are you careful in building up yourself in the honesty of God's word? If someone says of you 'I can trust you because I know you well enough', will you be true to that Trust? There is no greater feeling than to know that you are highly thought of and respected by those you revered or a good friend or family. When you ride on buses and see the way some people conduct themselves it makes you wonder if they have any friends or family your conduct says a lot about you. So you don't have to keep a conversation with someone to discover their character, you only have to stand, watch and listen to their behaviour. It was not so with Paul and Timothy. Paul could trust him at any time he was honest.
Dear Lord, I want my life to be an example to other people, teach me how to walk and talk the way that you want me to. Amen
