Psalm 69 v 22-28

Let their own feasts cause their ruin; let their feasts trap them and pay them back.
Let their eyes be closed so they cannot see and their backs be forever weak from troubles.
Pour your anger out on them; let your anger catch up with them.
May their place be empty; leave no one to live in their tents.
They chase after those you have hurt, and they talk about the pain of those you have wounded.
Charge them with crime after crime, and do not let them have anything good.
Wipe their names from the book of life, and do not list them with those who do what is right.

I am a big believer in we reap what we sow. Throughout time we see many examples of greed and power corrupting, and how they are generally the cause of someone's downfall. The more they have, the more they want, and no matter what they get they are not satisfied and never learn differently. They lose sight of what really matters, a right relationship with God, after that everything else falls into place, He sees to that. We only have to look around us to see people who are like this and see the misery they cause themselves and others.

In the New Testament Matthew 5 verses 44 & 45 Jesus tells us to "Love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you. If you do this, you will be true children of your Father in heaven."

In practice this is not easy; we need God's help to achieve this. It is only through God's grace, favour and strength that this is possible. With God we can find peace, love, rest and fulfilment, when we look to Him and co-operate with Him.

It is about having a right heart and a right attitude. God knows the big plan, trust Him to look out for you. No situation is beyond His capabilities to handle. No matter how low you fall you can make things right with God and turn your life around. Forgiveness is one of life's hard lessons to learn and best done with God's help.

Help me to have a right heart and attitude in all circumstances. Help me to be a force for good and be a blessing in your Kingdom. Thank you Father. Amen.
