Philippians 3 v 1-9a
My brothers and sisters, be full of joy in the Lord. It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it will help you to be more ready. Watch out for those who do evil, who are like dogs, who demand to cut the body. We are the ones who are truly circumcised. We worship God through his Spirit, and our pride is in Christ Jesus. We do not put trust in ourselves or anything we can do, although I might be able to put trust in myself. If anyone thinks he has a reason to trust in himself, he should know that I have greater reason for trusting in myself. I was circumcised eight days after my birth. I am from the people of Israel and the tribe of Benjamin. I am a Hebrew, and my parents were Hebrews.
I had a strict view of the law, which is why I became a Pharisee. I was so enthusiastic I tried to hurt the church. No one could find fault with the way I obeyed the law of Moses. Those things were important to me, but now I think they are worth nothing because of Christ. Not only those things, but I think that all things are worth nothing compared with the greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of him, I have lost all those things, and now I know they are worthless trash. This allows me to have Christ and to belong to him.
There is a saying that Christians are boring people it is impossible for true Christians to be boring because of the life of Christ which lives in them. This life of Christ is never boring because there is the power of the Holy Spirit which is life in itself. There is joy in Christ NEHEMIAH 8:10 says the joy of the Lord let us remain in it. Beware of people who indulge in evil actions for God hates evil stay away from it.
Circumcision concerning the Lord is the removing of the sins that entangled our lives before we came to Christ. Paul the apostle was a very sincere Pharisee before he became a Christian. This made him knowledgeable about Judaism because he was also a Jew under law. Today we are no longer under the law because the grace of God. The law was very strict and would sometimes be cruel but the grace of God cries for mercy. When we sin and sincerely repent of those sins we will be forgiven. Paul hurt Christians when he was a Pharisee, but God forgave him and used him to be a leader in the Gentile Church. As Paul dismissed his old life as rubbish we must also put our old lives behind us because we now belong to God.
Holy Heavenly Father, It is with gratitude that I pray to you today, I realise that your grace is enough for me, grant that my faith will increase and my purpose be recognised. I praise you.
