John 14 v 15-17
"If you love me, you will obey my commands. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he lives with you and he will be in you.
Recently I spent some time in Delhi, and we visited a few different places while we were there. Fortunately I had a contact there, so we were able to get guides for the places we wanted to visit.
If we hadn't got those guides, we would not have got the information we wanted to know about the places we were visiting. Without the information they would have been just another set of buildings and their purpose would have been oblivious to us.
The same is true for God's spirit. It reveals things to us, and gently guides us through life. In the same way that our guide was able to make us more knowledgeable about the places we visited, so God's spirit, his guide for us, helps us to be more knowledgeable about God, his plans for us, and how we can be guided towards those plans.
Dear God, I accept your spirit in my life, and ask that you would guide me through life, to the plans you have for me.
