A week of Lent Reflections taken from "Hope in Word, Hope in Action" - storiesofhope.org.uk

Hope is... in our hands
May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13
My challenge in ministry
This text was given to me when I was commissioned as a Church Army Evangelist in July 1962. God has indeed given me joy in the work that I have undertaken in his name, and for that I give thanks. However, I find that some children and young people today present many behavioural problems, and it is a challenge to keep on showing patience and love. I try to remember that they are strongly influenced by their family background and to see in them the person that God loves.
A reflection for Lent
A friend wrote in a book he gave me: 'Hope is lived, and it comes alive when we go outside of ourselves and, in joy and pain, take part in the lives of others.' Even in the most difficult of circumstances there is always hope. We must remember that 'God has no hands but our hands . . . to do his work today.' I would ask you to reflect on the hope that God is asking you to bring to another, for as we share in the lives of others we will find joy and peace.
Fill me good Lord, with your hope, your joy and your peace. By your Holy Spirit, may hope flow from me to others. I pray for the children and young people in my community that they may find purpose in life through their trust in you. Amen.
