Part of a themed week on "Challenges in mission".
A new role - 2 Corinthians 5:20
So we have been sent to speak for Christ. It is as if God is calling to you through us. We speak for Christ when we beg you to be at peace with God.
When you join a company, society or team you become a representative of that group, the face that the world sees.
As I travelled around Bolivia meeting Pastors and volunteers I was not only representing myself, but my organisation, Latin Link. My behaviour, attitudes and actions would have a direct effect on their reputation. At times I let them and myself down through my words and behaviour, at other times I believe I lifted the organisations standing in people's eyes.
Being a Christian we have the same responsibility, in fact a greater one. Not only does it matter how we behave in front of strangers but also how we treat those closest to us and even goes as far as how we act when we are alone.
We are God's ambassadors in the world, representatives of God's kingdom. When we behave badly this reflects on God. Likewise when we live good and pure lives we bring glory to God. In 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 Paul says that wherever we go we are the fragrance and aroma of Christ. Is this true of the life you demonstrate to those around you? If so be assured that others will notice. If not consider how the way you are living reflects not just on you but on the kingdom of God.
Father, thank you for the honour and privilege of being your ambassador. Forgive me for the times when I have dragged your name through the dirt by my words, actions and attitudes. Please help me to live my life to your glory so that others may be drawn to you. Amen.
