Word on the Web
2 Corinthians 5:6-10

So we always have courage. We know that while we live in this body, we are away from the Lord. We live by what we believe, not by what we can see. So I say that we have courage. We really want to be away from this body and be at home with the Lord. Our only goal is to please God whether we live here or there, because we must all stand before Christ to be judged. Each of us will receive what we should get-good or bad-for the things we did in the earthly body

Have you ever tried walking with a compass in the mist? You can't see anything and you are unsure where to go. There are various options; some seem tough, others seem easier. If you have a compass it will, with unerring accuracy, show you which way to go ... you simply have to follow the direction it is pointing.

Paul, in this passage, states that his only goal is to please God. Knowing that we must all stand before Christ and give an account of our life and actions focuses his mind. The question is simple; is your goal, the compass by which you live by, to please God? Living for the pleasure of God will change your life. It will affect how you treat people, what job you do and how you do it, what you spend your money on and so many other things.

You will get it wrong at times, you will struggle at other times, people won't always understand your decisions but it is the most exciting way of living that you will ever discover. Put a smile on the face of God. Now that is worth living for.

As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,
So may the light of your presence, O God,
Set our hearts on fire with love for you;
Now and for ever
Amen
