Praying, Giving and Receiving - a special series for Lent on Matthew's Gospel, written by Peter Graystone
Matthew 6:28-29
Why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.
We have a God who knows precisely what every individual needs. We know that in theory! The trouble is that when we are in stressful circumstances, we fear for the worst instead of trusting for the best.
But Jesus gives us a reason to trust. If God's care is so great that it extends to every wild flower, how much more does he care for humans - the pinnacle of his creation.
Today, think about what you have compared to what you need. Compare that with the people you see on the news reports. Thank God for his goodness and pray for those whose needs are not yet realised.
