Matthew 5:10
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
This saying of Jesus brings us down to earth. It is a reminder that those who seek justice have set out on a course that may put them at odds with powerful forces in the world.
To identify with Jesus is to identify with one who was crucified. When we see his hands stretched out lovingly toward us, we cannot help but notice that they are scarred by the nails of Calvary. His invitation is not to a life of ease, but to a life of fulfilment.
Father, help me stand up in your name and reflect Christ to the world. Amen
