Matthew 6:10
Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Heaven is a place where God's kingdom has already come. It is a place of total justice and unthreatened peace. Every time we pray the Lord's prayer, we are asking God to make that true of earth as well. Whenever we pray it, God must surely be saying, 'And what are you doing to bring about what you pray for?' This is a prayer that will change us, as well as a prayer that will change the world.
Heaven is also the place where God's will is done without question. So to pray for this to be true of earth as well is a prayer of astonishing magnitude. We should never pray it carelessly.
Lord God, Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Help me play my part in fulfilling this prayer, and show me your will for my part of your earth, and what I must do to bring about your kingdom here. Amen
